This matching Broomhandle Mauser has been offered to me, though we haven't talked price at this point.

Based on the photos (and I know some aren't the clearest) what is a reasonable offer for this piece complete with accessories?

TIA.

The holster, looks to be a reproduction, albeit a good one.

The stock looks original though. The pistol still retains a lot of its original finish and no obvious signs of rust.

You don't mention bore condition. Many of these old girls have poor bores.

If the bore is as nice as the outside and if the stock hasn't been refinished, $2700 - $3500, depending on the buyers interested.

Trying to locate a particularly nice specimen as that appears to be can be difficult at best. Even if you hang out in the circles that collect them.

Thanks for the reply.

Re. the holster, do you mean a custom period replacement, or a more recent reproduction made to look like a period piece?

I don't have the pistol in hand but I have inquired about the bore.

A more recent reproduction made to look like a period piece.

The stock looks OK but the pic is pretty poor and hard to judge.

Marstar, was selling repro stocks and holsters for these pistols at one time as were several US dealers. Some in the US, still are.

That looks to be a commercial build so the stock should have a Mauser banner stamped into one side of the stock. Not always though.

I dont think the holster is repro - if it is, it was very convincongly distressed on the right areas. If you don't buy it, pm me the seller's info and i will.

Look closely at the bore. If there is a ring on the muzzle that suggests a liner has been epoxied or silver soldering in to replace a corroded barrel, know that you are not dealing with an original. Adjust the price DOWN accordingly. The average C96 that came out of China has lands and grooves that make my lawn mower blade look pristine. If the gun is a WWI or WWII capture from a German who no longer required it, still look to see how well it was maintained.

I had a very similar rig back in the early 80's and the holster is definitly a repro.
Look for hairline cracks in wood stock.(looks like it was sanded)
Look for sign of reblueing.the fireblue on the sight adjuster looks original....
Lots of fake 9's around so be careful.
The value ? Here in Canada.......not too many real collectors for this type of machine and the ones interested only want to pay pennies for them. The question is how much you want it ?
