Hey guys.
I'm looking to re-scope my Axis. It had a cheap Bushnell on there from the factory, but I really didn't like it, and I'm sure there's something else out there that may better suit my needs.

My Axis is a .223 Rem, so it isn't a huge requirement to be getting a scope rated for 30-30 recoil. I'd kinda prefer a tactical look (because I am a tacticool ninja, remember?), but at the same time, I'd like it to a practical scope that I could theoretically reach out to 200 yards. As well, in the future this gun may be used for hunting predators (fox, coyotes), so again, something tactical and practical would be nice.

Is there something that fits the bill, or am I just blowing hot air?

Seeing as you are a tacticool kinda guy, something by Nightforce would be right up your alley. It would look awesome on your Axis also.

For tactical style you can get a Bushnell 10x for under $300. Or get a nice Leupold FX-3 Competition Hunter 6x42 for somewhere around $600:

Bushnell Elite tactical 5-15x40 with mildots, AO and finger adjustable target turrets. Nice scope for around $400. Or watch the equipment exchange for a Bushnell 6-24x50 with side focus and target turrets. Might find a used one for under $600

For 200 yards with a 223 all you need to do is zero your scope at 200 yards and shoot those coyotes. Not a lot of compensation for distance between a little high at 100 and right on at 200. A quality 3-9x40 might fit the bill.

The Bushnell I took off is a 3-9x30. Maybe I'll just tactically that up...

^x2 good idea for the tactical look. Or, try and track-down a Bushnell Legend 5-15x40~my nephew has one on his Axis .223. Really great glass for the $, about $180 A BIG, tactical-looking scope with great glass and a nice fine reticle is a Millett TRS-1. About $390 +/-. I had one, sold it to help fund my Vortex Viper HS (about $600) as I wanted to get away from the size/tactical look. I consider the Viper HS to be a nicer scope than the Millett, but I had ZERO complaints with that scope other than size/weight.

I have the savage axis in 22-250, I got rid of the bush ell it came with and put a scorpion optics on it, for the price and being Canadian made I am extremely pleased with it. Just my opinion. It's a 4-12x44 with mildot
