What Are You Paying For Boxes Of 223?

Yes.
MFS 55gr, steel case zinc plated, FMJ rounds.
For $0.35/rd I don't worry about reloading because it won't save much.
I've been happy with the ammo since I have had no FTF, FTF or FTEs with it.
I don't have any reloading equipment so I have to get relatives to do that for me.

For my HK SL8 I buy heavier 60+gr rounds at a higher price because I can't get them in bulk, with those I save the brass for reloading.

If the MFS stuff is made in Russia it's probally the same company maybe Wolf selling the Herters brand in the US. Cabela's had 20rd box's on sale for $4.29 last Saturday.

Hey all.

What are you guys paying for boxes of 223?

MFS, American Eagle, etc.......... 20 rounds.

Has an interesting experience at a local place here that got me wondering.........

they come in boxes of 20?

I thought they only came in crates of 1000 or 1600

Yes, made in Russia.
That would be a nice price to get here locally.
Unfortunately courier shipping usually kills any savings, and I live in the sticks.

The bulk ammo I buy locally is a box/crate of 500/1000/etc. but inside the rounds are usually packed into standard individual 20rd boxes.

Ok, spill the beans already. Who's shelf did you clear out and at what price??

Well, its kinda complicated so please bear with me........

All MFS, 223. Some 55 grain and 62 grain.

Case of 500 rounds (62 grain) I got for $5.99 a box. Then there were a bunch of loose boxes. Told the guy I'll take 25 boxes from the shelf to give me 1,000 rounds. Upon paying, some were 55 grains, some 62. Some boxes were 5.99. Some were 8.99. There was a mis price on lots of boxes. Spent about 45 minutes in shop listening to a song and dance about a special order for someone........

The 5.99 ones I wasn't sposed to buy but got 25 of em. Wasn't allowed to get anymore for this price. So got 8.99 ones. 23 boxes.

anyone of you is reloading ? im looking to by and new gun probably in .223/5.56 and looking for some ammo price , many seen to be at .035$ to .040 $ but after some research reloading can cut the cost to .029 or .030 wit the cheapest thing , some will say it .005/.010 $ but for a guys who is shooting many thousand round it make a big difference you can shoot more , but you need some expensive equipment

Norinco runs about 0.31 by the case ;)

not really worth reloading with it being that cheap... unless we're talking about HUNDREDS of thousands of rounds :p

308 on the other hand...... still fairly decent prices on surplus ammo, but I wonder how much cheaper it would be to reload your own 308.

Cheap bullets are the trouble. We may have a line on some for next year, along with powder. But hard to compete with ammo made 20 years ago.
