I'm working hard to talk myself out of ordering a MacMillan....if I could find a decent alternative, it might help. Who stocks H-S or B-C stocks in Canada. I've been hunting the classifieds, but there's not much there right now.

Trying to save some money and not getting the best isn't worth it. I bought a B&C medalist at Christmas and I wish I would have bought a McMillan.

Buy the best once and save money over buying B&C then getting a McMillan.

What about the B/C stock didn't you like?

It's heavy and soft. It's an upgrade from plastic but far from perfect.

My weatherby backcountry 257 with the B&C stock cracked at the recoil and down through the floor plate as well. I did do some shooting in a lead sled type rest once so that may or may not have helped. I did grind it out and bedded it and think I have fixed it.

I have had 4 of them over the years and all were better than plastic. The caberlite's had lots of flex in the fore arm. My LVSF was a good stock but funny shaped. The backcountry broke but I have abused and shot it a lot the last few years and if my "go to". I like the medilist and the caberlite the least. The medalist is way to heavy with the aluminum bedding block and the fore end is flimsy.

Not trying to scare any one away from B&C, the finish and fit on the last bunch me and a buddy got were pretty good.

You are getting what you pay for and I wish I bought a McMillan first but it's just excperence.
