Why are CZ Kadet .22 so pricey?

simply supply and demand, i think.

but not what some of the guys up there says, that less is made so it's more expensive.

same gun is ~$650 in US. it's $900 here.

importers probably import them at just about retail in US(because "Supposedly" we are such a small market), so they gotta make money, put their profit on top.

That's just pure BS, though. at 30 million+, canada is not a small market. just smaller compared to US.

Same sh1t happens in all sorts of market. Cars, for instance. bucketload more expensive here than in US, just cause Honda Canada/Toyota Canada/Subaru Canada or whatever make Canada can't do their job right or is super greedy.

bought an oil temp sensor recently, it's $150 in US Retail. it's $240 in canada. my dealers' COST is higher than US retail.

RAV4, it's BUILT IN CANADA but freight and PDI is 2X that of same unit in US.

Computer equipment as well. i ordered a network card from my supplier at my job, and my suppliers COST was higher than US retail. F@#$D@#!~!!


anyway, so because of higher cost there's limited demand, and but due to various factors even smaller supply = higher price.

When the American population is over 350 million compared to Canada's 30 million, that direct comparision makes Canada a 'small market' in the eyes of the US gun manufactures.
Demand (which is sky high these days) in the states trumps the Canadian market and it's demand.
 
Does anyone know if the. 22 Kadet conversion kit for the 9mm CZ's functions the same as the actual .22 Kadet pistol. I mean, once the kit is installed is there a difference between the Kadet kit and the factory Kadet?

The only difference I am aware of other than markings is the kits often need a little stoning to work right. Once they are worn in they work every bit as good as factory Kadets, which is amazing. As I said before there are very few 22's that cycle all 22 ammo as well as the Kadet and that includes a well working kit.

Thanks. I'm planning on buying a sp-01 Shadow as a first gun and was going to grab a Kadet kit for practice. I just read on the CZ international site they will be making a Kadet kit for the SP-01 CZ's later this year. Thanks again for the affirmation.

If your buying a SP-01 Shadow I highly recommend picking up a Kadet Kit. Mine fits my Shadow perfectly and the front sight has been swapped to match the red fibre optic sight on my Shadow. I can shoot 500 rounds of .22lr for about $20, where as 500 rounds of 9mm is more like $235. With the kit on the the weight of the pistol feels the same and the trigger on the Shadow is just awesome.

Wow, after less than 1000 rounds the kit would have paid for itself! Like you said, the kit gives you the same weight and feel as your 9mm so for me it's a no brainer to pick up the kadet kit. I am assuming you have an sp-01 shadow and not the regular shadow, if so, do you have the part number for the Kadet kit that fits the sp-01 style guns(with the bottom acc. rail). I can't seem to find it online on either cz site (US or International).

Correct. I paid for my dedicated kadet the first week I owned it, and shot 2500 rounds of 22 ammo. I have owned sig p210-7's, and p210 with the conversion and many other fine 22's. The only one I have kept is the cz kadet it has been outstanding. The only thing you need to watch for is the roll pin on the top of the slide tends to wander out, which can cause issues. I don't know a single person who has regretted buying either a kadet or the kit, they are that good. Guys do sell them used but typically not because they don't like them or because they don't work.

Yes, I have the SP-01 Shadow with the rail. I have had the opportunity to try three different kadet kits on it and all of them have fit. When I was shopping for my Kadet Kit I also read somewhere that there were issues fitting them on the SP-01 Shadow but that hasn't been my experience. The kits all fit slightly (emphasis on slightly) differently on my Shadow one was tighter, all shot equally well. They were all CZ Kadet Adapter Kits the only other model I know of is the Kadet Kit 2 which I think is the 2nd generation and was produced after 2009, I believe they fit and function the same but the Kadet Kit 2 might have a slightly shorter profile.

I bought mine used on the EE, it is in excellent condition and I haven't had any failure to feed. I cannot find a part number in the manual or on the Kadet itself but mine was is manufactured in '08, my Shadow is '11. I think you should be fine with any Kadet Kit. I have heard that they are going to discontinue the kits in order to sell more of the .22lr dedicated Kadet pistols, so it might be harder to find a new one. Good luck with your search, you won't regret it!

Man 3 different kits on a shadow and not a single failure to feed. For anyone considering a 22-9mm combo this statement should be given a lot of consideration. 22's are so finicky and to find one that isn't especially such a well made accurate one is incredible. The cz 22 is extremely well made and well designed.
