Help for Hornady dies

I have a set of Hornady dies for my 7 08. The seating die has a sleeve that slides up and down in the die when seating bullets.

Last loading session I buckled a couple of cases with it. Worked fine on all the other but why would it buckle the cases all of a sudden even though I did not adjust the dies at all.

Photos would definitely help.

Best guess lacking pix -- if the buckle was at the join of the neck and the shoulder, I would think that those particular cases were a touch longer than the others (either from the manufacturer or from having been fired more often) and you wound up overcrimping. With nowhere to go inwards, the neck starts to fold down into the case. If that's where your buckling was, either trim your cases to uniform length or else back off the die a hair.
 
check your brass for oal! If the brass has "grown" to over max length and you try to crimp a bullet in a cannelure , That brass at the case mouth will be pushed back and possibly cause a buckled neck / shoulder.

When seating bullets . OAL was good on the brass. It was bought new and fired once by me and the lengths were good. It was almost as if the moving sleeve on the die got stuck. When I switched back to a lyman die I had that did not have the sliding sleeve there were no issues.

Just wondering if others had issue with the hornady dies. The sizing die works fine but the seating die is causing me grief.
 
actually just had this happen today with my .303 dies. the collar is also a roll crimp and at times hangs up inside the seating die, remove the top part of the die not the screw for seatig depth the whole thing, I used Remington dry lube in the inside of the die and have the issue much less often than I used to but it occasionally happens still
 
My .22 Hornet Hornady resizing die buckled a couple cases until I adjusted it but the other dies of several different manufacters I have haven't done that to me with any of my other calibers I reload for. I have a 6.5x55mm Hornady die set but haven't got around to using it yet.

If I don't use the Expander Die for expanding and belling the case mouth on my RCBS .44 Rem. Mag./.44 Special carbide 3-Die Set it can crumble the case depending what bullet type or design I'm using at the time. Cleaning and lubing the mouth of the case helps a little too.
