Hello,

I'm hoping someone has some advice here. I just picked up an 870 Express tactical. love it! However, the front sight is a little ####-eyed and I'd like to remove it and perhaps mount a tru-glo front bead. I can pull the bead out of the dovetail mount, however it looks like the mount is spot welded in??

Is it just pressed? Can I pull it out? Anyone do this have some suggestions or a procedure that works without marring the barrel????

Thanks very much in advance.

The front sight comes out, from-left-to-right. The ramp is permanent.

Check the ejector to make sure it is not broken where it engages the barrel.

The forward end of the ejector goes inside a notch on the rear end of the barrel. If the front end of the ejector breaks off then the barrel can rotate and the sights are off of center.

I understand what you're saying. No, it's not the notch or the barrel itself. It looks like the ramp wasn't pressed perfectly parallel when looking down on to the top of the barrel.

All in all, I'm not really a fan of the factory front bead and I'd like to look into some sort of tru-glo configuration. I'll hit up the gunsmith tomorrow and get his opinion.

Thanks for your input!!

What is the cost of the smithing to remove the front sight? I'm thinking it may be cheaper to buy a barrel more to your liking and then sell this one to offset the cost.
