Hello all

I'm thinking of getting a tacticool semi-auto .22 for plinking.

I've seen some pictures of the Ruger 10/22 with the Promag marauder kit, I kind of fell in love with it.

Does anyone have input as to the quality of this kit?
I don't want anything flimsy.

Also, is there a specific variant of the 10/22 that has to be used for the Marauder?

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
There are a bunch of marauder posts here to look through. To answer your question, I have a marauder kit and it is SOLID! before I actually put it together I took apart my SR-22 and put it in just to see what t would look like and I got it stuck and had to really pull like the dickens to get it out of the kit. every one I have talked to about it it very impressed with their marauder kits.

Marauder or nomad? As I understand it, the kit was originally called the marauder but it had to be changed to Nomad... maybe I have that backwards.

I have the nomad kit and its amazing. Its polymer and i was worried it would feel cheap... but once assembled its solid as a rock. Mine fit together perfectly with no mods or issues. Im very happy with it.

You are right, the original name was Marauder, then they had to change the name to Nomad, due to some infringment from some Crosman pellet gun. Nice looking gun! Can you still use the iron sights with that setup?
 
EVERY time I pick up my Marauder-equipped 10-22, it puts a smile on my face. The quality of the kit is utterly amazing - everything on it is solid & well-constructed. Hinges & doors work smoothly, and click shut with authority. The action fits very, very tight in the kit, and believe me, nothing rattles. I have handled a few real K&K G-36's (which, by the way, are identical in weight and all dimensions to the Marauder/Nomad kit), and the kitted 10-22 feels exactly the same - same fit, finish, etc. as the real thing.

I've had no trouble with my mags, either - several hundred rounds down the pipe, and I've yet to have a fail to fee, fire, extract, etc. Accuracy is exactly the same as the un-kitted gun...excellent.

Thanks for the comment Hical.ca... you sold the stock to me. hehe... so thanks for that too.
Stock iron sights are not useable with the scope on the gun, but the scope comes off with thumb screws and the scope holds zero perfectly when its removed and replaced so I can use either if I want... at the very least, the irons are still a backup if ever needed.

I love this gun. only complaint is the LOP is a little short for me so ive ordered a G36-M4 conversion kit for it from an airsoft supplier. It will allow me to use a 6 position collapsible stock like an M4... which I think will fit me way better.
 
No, stock 10 round ruger mags wont work. But butler creek steel lips work great. They seem to be the most reliable feeding mags out there. They dont look as cool... but they work the best. When I want to show off... I put in the stock mag with the sleeve.
 
Ok maybe I'm missing something here.I'm confused as to if it's a mag or stock you are talking about with the G36-M4 kit. I thought it was a kit to change out the butt stock which I find a little short on the marauder folding stock. I would like to change to an extendable butt stock on my promag marauder kit.
 
That's what I thought but when doing some research on google all I came up with was info on the mag conversion kit. Can anyone chime in with more info on the stock conversion kit?
