My NR Swiss Arms CQB

Not to judge or anything, everyone is entitled to there opinion, but c'mon, I mean a 10lb Swiss CQB with a 18.5" barrel and a non functioning suppressor?

Is this really what people in Canada's Black Rifle community think is cool? I mean the paint and the gun are awesome, but the NR barrel and the fake can have got to go, it looks kinda goofy. Sure a lament who doesn't know anything about Canadian Firearms laws will think "Oh coooool, a silencer" and if your out to impress those types of people then power to ya, but we all know it's fake, so I just don't understand what makes it cool. I must be weird cause everyone else sure likes it. Oh well I don't need to understand these things, your happy with your gun and thats all that matters! Enjoy Shooting it!!!

Just out of curiosity if non restricted was what you wanted, then why not just get a non-restricted model?

Very unique - thanks for sharing! You should paint the barrel shroud, magazine adapter and vertical grip in the same colour scheme to match. My Tavor with EOTech is just over 8.5lbs, so 10lbs with a magnifier and Surefire isn't too bad (all things considered). Kudos on the new toy!

It's a barrel shroud; in addition to improving the overall look, it provides additional protection against actually bumping against the barrel (since quite a bit of it is exposed otherwise).

Why a non-restricted CQB? Well, for starters it's 2-3lbs less than a similarly-configured Swiss Arms Classic. I imagine the weight is also more evenly balanced. And the overall length is possibly a bit less as well.

I'll just conclude by restating that it's incredibly unique, and I for one am glad to see some 'out-of-the-box' thinking. Again, great job OP!

The price on this on the EE where he bought it was more than good. I believe it even came with some of those accessories if I remember correct. I bet after the swap to NR status it still came in under the price of a Classic Green or Black Special. Even if it cost more it's quite a unique config, guaranteed to be unique even in a crowd of other SAN rifles.

Looks nice and a very creative solution to set it free, so you two can spend some quality time in the woods. :dancingbanana:

As to the question "why?" YOLO

Exactly right! I also have a full sized Swiss Arms and I find it way too long and heavy. In the time I've owned it, I think I've only shot it about 3 times and haven't even thought of shooting it since getting the CQB. I really liked the feel and balance of the CQB which is why I wanted to get it in NR and its always nice to stick it to the gubment - thats one less firearm thats on their registry :)

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the barrel and the gunsmithing work?

All together, it cost $950 + cost of shipping. I'm also very impressed with how fast the work was completed. When i first contacted Ian Herron about getting this done, he said it would take minimum 4 weeks. I had the rifle in my grubby little hands in just a few days under 4 weeks :D

The full length rail also adds quite a bit of weight to the Swiss Arms Classic - especially if you only need to mount an accessory or two. I really think it would look sick with the same colour scheme extended to the shroud. If you're ever looking for a really slick grip in FDE, check this out. I believe Target Sports may carry them.

Good on you for doing it, I`m still curious about the difference in weight and overall length between it and the Classic NR . I keep going back and forth between doing a Swiss or an ACR. My recurring nightmare is that if I do an ACR they`ll reclassify them all as restricted or prohibited for various reasons that shall go unnamed.

I remember seeing it up on the EE as well.

As for the pricing of NR Swiss - I've got a WTB add up on the EE for a NR Swiss w/ a very clear note as to what I will pay for one. $350 off full retail price for a used rifle, especially when they are available at quite a few retailers, is totally unrealistic in my opinion.

- a lighter rifle
- having a shorter barrel w/ integrated flash hider or brake
- the possibility of having a high quality match grade barrel with the twist rate of your liking and profile
- short gas system so hand guards are also shorter and thus closer to your body
- better handling feel for most users
- unique

Thanks! I'll have to get one of those grips. I've considered getting a shorter stubbier grip because I usually only use about the first half of the foregrip anyway with preferred shooting grip I use

Wow you either have a crazy good memory or you really wanted to get this rifle too :D
I remember looking at that ad like 4 times a day.

Dare I ask ......total cost for the set up ?

Ricka2

Including the accessories I got for it like an Aimpoint and magnifier, I think I have about $5K into it.

Is the shroud removable ? Can I see a pic with no shroud?

Yep, its removable. Its just threaded on. Here is a pic: As you can see it looks a bit goofy without the shroud.
