H&R Slughunter

I really like mine. It shoots tight groups to 100 yds. with the right loads.
First thing to do if you get one is undo the butt pad and take out the
big chuck of steel rod in there so the gun won't feel so heavy to pack
around. These beasties are designed to shoot a sabot slug or full bore
paradox type bullet, not rifled slugs. For the money, these H&R guns
are hard to beat.

I reload using 1 1/4 oz. slugs from Slugs-R-Us in the States, and
these are very accurate projectiles. Check 'em out.

Tagged for interest. What gauge you looking at ?

From what Ive read they seem to be outstanding slug guns.

Main issues Ive READ about emphasis on read because I don't have my own yet.

They can be very picky on ammo? Which gun isn't within reason.

Very heavy, best suited for stand hunting.

Light primer strickes or fail to fires, seems to be resolved.

Any owners care to comment?

With right ammo very accurate. My two friends have them and they leave the rifle and the Browning BPS Slug gun at home to carry the H&R.

The scope is a Nikko Sterling 4x32 that I picked up a few years back.
I wish I had a few more of them, cause they're so clear.

I'll have to google them.

Well I took the plunge and picked up my own USH today. Can't wait to try it out.

What are your best groups?

What distances have you shot it?

Thanks

Using the Slugs-R-Us projectiles on top of 28gr. Blue Dot I'm getting one
ragged hole groups at 30 yds. Velocity with this load is around 1100fps.
Slapping an 8" gong at 80yds. is easy from the bench.
This is a nice load for deer and black bear if the shot is taken below 100yds.
Preferably at 50 or less. ;)
