I recently purchased a Winchester model 94 src made 1905 now I have to questions first off and I'm probably using the wrong term but the slider for adjusting the rear site I shall call an elevator. Any how I need one where should I look second I'm looking for an oversized lever for her.

i will snap a pic when i get the chance thanks and classic or not i need to be able to use it with thick gloves on

ada-boy, your gun is your gun, drill a hole, cut it, paint it, make it useful to you. Example: It P's me when some dudes don't wanna even drill a hole in the dash to mount a switch or a CB radio bracket etc. Even my Dad was a bad one for that, he whale'd on me back in '68 when I "butchered" up the brand new Camaro that he bought for me! I put a hood scoop on it and cut holes in the hood for 4 inch air hoses duct into the air cleaner! And I cut off the stock exhaust system and chrome piped it out the sides in front of the rear wheels, Corvette style! :p
P.S. to the OP: vkos1 will likely have the site that you seek.

You should try to pick up an original saddle ring carbine sight, that is not the original rear sight. The 1894 rifle sights elevator would extend to the rear far enough to hit the receiver, I think. Later on they moved the rear sight dovetail farther forward. A 34c elevator might work, they are short and extend towards the muzzle. Put a big lever on her, sure, but keep the original in case you ever want to sell it.

thanks two-dogs i dont get why people get excited over other peoples guns that way

Well just generally because they aren't making anymore 1905 Win 94's. If you want to pimp one up and hang dingle balls off it get one from the 70's that has little real value.

On the other hand, it's your gun and "modifying" it will make the few Others of that age that much more valuable, so knock yourself out. - dan

Oh I struck a nerve LOL its a tool and if u can't find a tool in a store that is just right u modify one to do the job ya can't buy a pickup from the manufacturer with a snow blade or set up as a tow truck now can u

It's just a notched ramp, with a rounded end. You could use one from any number of different carbines. You won't be able to hit anything without it. You could always look for an original, while enjoying shooting it. I wouldn't mess with the sight itself. They were "welded" on, and you don't want to try and recreate that process.

see thats what i dont get if its not the original sight on it who ever put it on did a damn good job and your right tryed shooting it today and couldnt hit @#$% until i slide a dime under it then i was dropping clay at 100 yards

You can't find a common 70's era 94 Win? Really? And if my pickup was an original 57 apache I wouldn't be messing with that either. But that's just me, and we all have things we consider too nice to mess with. As I said, your gun, have fun. Wild west guns used to have the loops, don't know if they still do. - dan

Marbles makes and did make for most manufs a really decent quality rear sight. They call them vintage sights and they are well made. Check out their site and Brownells carries them. Not sure who in Canada carries them but my dealers will gladly order them for me too. Nice stuff-some flip some dont. I hate those sheet metal sights. For the elevators probably any gunshop that has done sight swaps has buckets of parts and they sometimes give them away.
