Mossberg Tactical .22 Flat Tops are here!

<snip> The magazine is a bit sloppy and tends to drop out if touched during firing, this then causes the gun to jam up , sometimes 2 un fired rounds get caught up. No matter what I do this gun needs to be cleaned freaquently more so than my other rimfires. </snip>

I ended up wrapping some electrical tape around the bottom of the mag (before it expands out, but still inside of the plastic receiver). Electrical tape purely because it's black and can't be seen or noticed. This extra bit of thickness took the play out of the mag for a more snug fit. That seems to have fixed the mag issues I had for less than a penny.

As for the cleaning --- agreed 100%. But haven't had any issues outside of an ftf or two after a few hundred rounds without cleaning. At the cost of a 22lr - I'm not miffed about losing some rounds while plinking.

could you replace the plastic rails with metal ones? the metal rails sell for pretty cheap and it seems like a good way to add some weight to the gun

Gotta admit I don't get all the 'it feels cheap' talk.
It is what it is...a $300 gun that is 1/2 the price of any of it's competition, and which according to Gun Test magazine is more accurate than either the S&W or Umarex Colt.

Difference between the two versions?

We did receive a shipment of the carry handle versions today!!

Aside from the aesthetics of the carry handle version and the flat top version, are there any differences in their actions? Are they exactly the same inside? Both have the same reliability? From the quick internet search I have done the handle version seems to be the older one and might have jamming issues, please correct me if I am wrong.

If both work the same with the same reliability but just look a bit different I might just get the carry handle version you have in stock. I have a Ruger SR22 that I have been pouring money into and would like a really cheap AR lookalike that I will keep stock aside from adding a red dot.

There is a $50 price difference between the 2 so it makes me wonder what the flat top has over the carry handle version.

Thanks for the info!

Internally they are both the same 702 Plinkster action in a fancy chassis. The difference in price and availability just boils down to newer style design of the chassis versus older style design of the chassis.

We haven't received word of any difference in function between the two whatsoever.

Cheers,
Dan

Ive owned both and they both function the same and great, I sold the carry handle because the optic mount on top of the handle was ridiculously high and no chance of a cheek weld, well worth the extra bucks

I just bought the 715t 2 days ago... If I would have known, I would have snatched this model up. Is it still the 702 plinkster also inside of the flat top shell shell?
