Tavor Flat Top Question

Just a question for those of you that have the Tavor flat top model... there seems to be two variants: one has the original front sight and a thin flip-up rear that both integrate into the rail, and a second that has a set of detachable picatinny flip-ups. I'm assuming that on the latter the provisions for the factory BUIS are still there and that they've just been removed and replaced with the detachable versions? Thanks for any clarification.

No, it is the same versions, the one with BUIS still has the integrated sights in the rail..

If you only have the integrated ones, than who ever is selling it kept the BUIS...

It happened to me.. the "guy" sold me one without BUIS, sling or cleaning kit.. for full price (back then $2900).. what a rip off.. oh well, karma is a #####.. he'll get his lesson one day.

The front post is there the back one is replaced by a sightless gas block.

Same here. I removed the detachable ones and use the original integrated ones. IMHO the detachable ones are crap.
Just to note the rail is provisioned with a slot for the original sights. I really don't know why the rifle was sold with the extra sights.

Same here. Mine came with the integrated and the BUIS as well. Bought mine in in late March.

With very recent purchase, mine came with both versions. Is there a reason why there are 2 sight versions included? I just think that is a waste, overlapping another.

I would tend to agree, and the impression I have of the detachable ones isn't that great. BUIS for your BUIS seems like kind of overkill. While we're discussing the Tavor flat top, how do you guys like it with the extra rail space?

How are the integrated buis? I have the detachable buis on mine, but might just take them off. I have my eotech on my rail with extra batteries in the handgrip (discovered that space by accident!)

The extra railspace is OK. Maybe if I invest in a gen3 magnifier for my eotech it would be sweet. But as is I like it. Come to think of it ill likely buy a magnifier for it sometime soon.

Here's a followup question: how much additional work is it disassembling the flattop Tavor with the extended rail?

Depends on the rail. Removing the barrel, regardless of mount style, is not something I would do regularly.
