Hi guys just wanting some input on range finders. I would like it to be good for 1500 to 2000 yards. The new Leica interests me but without using it in foul weather I wont know how it will perform. Any advise would be great.

If you want to consistently range at 2000yds (and well beyond), forget the Leica/Swaro/Zeiss/Bushnell units and start looking at something like a Vectronix Terrapin. The price is not for the faint of heart, but the performance is unreal.

I bought a Leica 1200 older model and the best I can reach so far is a couple inches
under 1000 yards.
Haven't reached the claimed 1200 even with a new battery.

They do but it was hacked twenty20insight.ca

Assuming that is the one he was talking about, I just googled it after this thread.

It also depends on how reflective your target is.

When I used to do some surveying, we could get approximate shots on various objects from 300 to maybe 600m if it was reasonably reflective. But when we used a prism (a 3" diameter mirror/reflector) we could get 2+km to a few cm.

Check out the G7 BR2. It's a 2000yd rangefinder and ballistic calculator all in one. I tested one out at Grouse River and was impressed, but not prepared to fork out $1700 just then.

Pretty sure Eurooptic.com will export them for you. I know they have done the paperwork and exported Scopes to a few guys.

Talked to Vectronix, they told me they didn't have a Canadian dealer so I talked to Europtics and they wont export them up here. If I could talk to twenty20 that would be great but I cant find any of the contact info for them anywere. Dont know which way to go next.

Can you buy direct from the company?
