Looking to get a .50 for my next gun, anyone know which ones are available/instock for Canada?..

I want a Tac50, however they're a no go, what other options are there?

Though you cannot have the McMillan Tac-50 rifle shipped to Canada, you can buy all of the parts for the Tac-50 and have it assembled by someone. The actions are importable and available here in Canada, and you can order the stock direct from McMillan or any of their fine distributors here. Then it is just down to finding the barrel, and from what I hear you can scare a Lilja barrel, which is if I am not mistaken what McMillan uses.

Personally I am building from scratch, so I get what I want without much compromise. Though you should be warned, acquiring parts is lots of time and money laying in wait. Currently my time table is about a year, just in collecting parts, and may be extended.

If you are not up for the wait and process of procuring parts, then I would take a good hard look at PGW's LRT-3 in the Cadex chassis.

steyr hs50, accuracy international ax50, gm6 lynx bullpup semi automatic, some custom made canadian ones like alberta tactical.

The HS 50 M1 meets your purposes and is available here now. It is a very accurate rifle and in single shot form has won the NRA 1000 yard bench rest "Hunter Class" at Raton NM the last two years. The mechanical difference from the single shot to the magazine fed is basically the upper rear tube which mounts the magazine. The barrel, bolt and frame are the same. The M1 also has an enhanced adjustable stock as well as the mag feed.

We usually stock the guns (one last M1 in stock now) and spares for them. If you do buy one and ever need anything contact me at phil@odell.ca for assistance.

I recall reading that one can order a .50 cal barrel out of the US, as long as the barrel is not chambered, i.e. .50 BMG!

Once in Canada the chamber can be machined................................let's say in .50 BMG, then a gunsmith of your choice can mate the barrel up to an appropriate action.

I may be wrong, but may be worth looking into.

Sadly, you are wrong. :(

I'd love to know what the trick is.
Lothar-Walther (USA) said they can't get them out, chambered or not due to an export ban on anything .50 cal

They were wrong apparently. Or misunderstood what you were asking/saying...

.50cal black-powder stuff leaves the U.S. all the time, as well as .50AE, .50cal barrel BLANKS are no different. Just no .50-BMG...
