Thumbler's Tumbler Recipes

No problem whatsoever with the tumbler and pins. The problem is if I cannot get my brass decapped first, I'm not going to tumble it. My problem is my overall brass prep process - decap, tumble, dry, lube, size, tumble dry, prime, load. Decap is my first step and it is causing me some grief.
Gotcha!
I am waiting on a lee decapping die as well. Been doing it by hand for now, which is a little slower as I have to make sure the pin is sitting on the primer.
The Lee's are guaranteed no to break.
I'm curios to know what experience others have had with the lee die.

I have the lee die. I have deprimed everything with it. Even nasty range-pickup brass. More than a few times I have tried unsuccessfully to deprime berdan (?) primed brass without the proper flashhole :) After a few smashes I usually get the clue.

I don't know if it is unbreakable, but I have abused mine, and it still works fine.

8:19 A.M. Sunday, I started my tumbling my first batch of brass. I have over a 1,000 to do, which I plan on processing in batches of about 250. I'm going to have to buy a new scale to double check weights to see if I can do bigger batches without overloading the motor. I split the difference between a couple of the suggestions and used a tablespoon of Dawn and a 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi-Shine. Thanks to all for your suggestions. Canadian Tire had everything I needed. I"ll start checking the brass in 1 hour and every hour after that. I'll pull one case out each time and do a comparison later today. Meanwhile I can finish setting up the Dillon. I'm a very happy man today. This has been a long time coming. Next step is to finish getting the last few items to load rifle on a single stage. :D

I like to run the first tumble of never-before-SStumbled-brass for 4 hour's,that way it's pretty well gauranteed to get it nice and clean.
After that 1-1 1/2 will do it.

The brass I put in was not very tarnished but they are very clean and shiny now. Just a little discolouration inside. The primer pockets are clean now.
I'll keep it running for the next few hours just for a comparison, but at this point don't think 4 or 5 hours is going to be necessary for the stuff I have to clean.

Then don't if their that clean.
I'm used to tumbling for fellow shooter's with range pick up brass.
Like I said, first tumble is the longest to get the most crud off, after that it's a short tumble.

The first load is complete and drying. There is a small differance in the sheen from hour 1 to hour 3, but not muchmore than that. So for me 3 hours will be my standard for fairly clean pistol brass. I was a little surprised that I had to pull pins from flash holes, not many but between 12 and 20 out of a batchof 250. From most of the U-tube videos I watched and from what I read, that was not suppose to be an issue with this system.

i use a good sized squirt of soap (no way im pulling out a measuring spoon or anything) and a 9mm case of lemshine, tumble 3 hours and works perfect

if your water is harder (mine is very soft as is) throw in a squirt of jet dry as well, my friend in calgary wasnt getting them as shiny as me and that fixed it

Gotta love this site. Recently moved and used to get wicked shiny brass but i just couldn't get them shiny after several tries. Read this thread and had a moment.... its my f'n water. I tried jet dry and they became shiny. I've read a lot of useless #### in these forums but there are some really great posts here.

Much thanks to heavenIsAlie
