100 Grain LSWC 38 Special?

I picked a press from a friend’s dad last week. He threw in a few boxes of cast bullets. He only loaded for .38/.357 and .45.
Some of the boxes still had the price tags on them... It was scary to see the price of lead 30+ years ago.
There is a box of small cast LSWC. I weighted a few at random and they weigh between 98 and 103 grains.
I have checked a few books old and new plus a couple of hours searching the web but come up with nothing so far.
Does anyone have a recipe/expierence with these? They will be used in a S&W .357. I have a can of Unique here that I just picked up but I am always looking for a reason to go back to the local gun shop if the recipe calls for something different.
I am thinking about loading a dozen with 3-4 grains of Trailboss just to see how they work.
 
Not exactly a common weight bullet for 357. Start with a load for 125gr lead and work up from there. Chances are if you drive them too fast leading will occur. I would just use them up as plinkers.

Agreed, a lighter lead bullet would be fine for shorter ranges at moderate speeds. If it's a true swc design, odds are the driving bands are pretty short.
 
I finally found some time to hide in the basement. I loaded a dozen .38 cases with 3 grains of Trail Boss.
I looked over the cases and they didn’t look quite right. The cases were bulged to where the bullet was seated.
I guess I should have measured the bullets before I started… They measure .362”
Back to the drawing board.

100gr at .362? Maybe you seated them sideways....:p

Likely made for 38S&W.
