The “Hellbreaker” AR

x's 2!

Looks like crap if you ask me, and serves absolutely no purpose.

You're right, it serves no purpose. Just like custom dust covers, colour inlay of the fire control markings and serial numbers, the Magpul logo'd lower in its entirety. Custom fire control markings, zombie sh*t anywhere on a firearm or accessory, custom "punisher" grips on pistols:rolleyes: etc etc. The lower looks well done, but it serves no real purpose.

Very well put. It looks cool and I want it! So there!:D

The extra metal added to do the engraving on adds weight.
The notching on the mag housing will also encourage a Mag well grip, which is just poor form, and can be unsafe in the event of a catastrophic failure. End state = useless. This is like a 3' spoiler on a car that can only go 80kph. May look cool to some, but just adds weight and serves no purpose.

But what a cool looking gimmick! Lets face it guys, half the reason we like AR's so much is because of how they look! Or am I not supposed to admit that? :D

:agree:

It IS a cool looking gimmick!! That'd be the whole reason why I'd get it.... well if they were produced.

Practicality gets thrown out the window with one of those, including those custom engraved parts... but who really cares?? I'd put that on my "look how much cool #### I can throw on a gun" gun.

BUT, all that being said... I think the bigger picture here, is the possibilities, which is one of the reason I posted it. It seems like the guy prototyped it on a 3D printer, and someone actually manufactured a real version of his prototype, (I guess a MK2). Imagine designing your own FULLY custome lower, and sending it off to be printed then created? That'd be pretty slick. Though those Motuik (their page seems to be down for now) guys do offer a limited amount of customization... a fully customized lower would be kinda neat! You could in theory combine all the most useful features from every lower, into 1 ultimate lower receiver and match it (maybe) with a custom upper.
