Best Optic to use with Tactical Rimfire PDW?

Hi all, I just built a 10 22 archangel 556 and now I'm wondering what optics to use for it? I ordered a dlask 12.5 inch bull barrel and oversized charging handle. Now I'm thinking about optics. What do you guys think for a PDW? I have some magpul mbus on there now. This is more of a POU issue, but I'd like to get some opinions. Thanks.

Well, I've already got a Lucid HD-7 with 2x magnifier and I'm honestly not very good with it. That's why I'm interested in alternatives. Still new to the PDW thing and interested in soliciting POU opinions.
 
If this is for close quarters scenarios a red dot of some kind is really the best choice. But, I have my Nomad 10/22 equipped with a 4-12X40 Tasco scope... I like it. But it wouldnt be any good if someone busts in your front door.

I have also used a fixed 4X scope with illuminated cross hairs from NCstar. I realize its a cheap brand but this scope has worked great for me, even on my VZ58... its been really tough and with the relatively low magnification the optics arent a huge issue. Still, i vote red dot of some kind given your planned use for the gun.

If someone busts in your front door with harmful intent, I would hope you would have a better option than a "tactical rimfire" PDW in .22 LR. Just my personal opinion, but I think it lacks stopping power I feel would be necessary in a high stress, life on the line, type of situation.
 
I run a TRS-25 on mine and love it. .750"-.800" riser will absolute cowitness 1" will lower 1/3 with standard height AR sights. The 3 moa dot is a nice size. But as stated if you already have a lucid then you probably need more trigger time. Nothing is faster than a reflex sight.

If all ya got is a .22 and 25 round clip I think you can make an intruder take a serious second though about how much farther they want to go. Not to mention, in a bad situation, a .22 with the right look can be as intimidating as whatever its look is patterned after. Just my opinion, but a .22 may not be the most efficient, but I think its still a decent choice for home protection.

Seriously though, I don't understand why a red dot would not suit this role perfectly. I would honestly suggest practicing with what you have. I had a shorty 10/22 with a scope, and realistically it didn't do anything a red dot couldn't have done.

I suppose if you want to stay tactical, you could try a 1-4x scope?

Also a 22lr would be my absolute last choice in defense. It would probably be more effective putting it into a wood stock and using it as a club.
 
Well, I got the 10 22 mainly for a girl but I thought I would have some fun with it. Also I like the idea of not having mag restrictions. You can either have lots of weak rounds or fewer more powerful rounds. Powerful rounds are useless if they don't hit the target and without training and practice more rounds are better for spray and pray. Once I get build finished I will take her to the range and see what she thinks.
As far as home protection goes we have no wildlife here and so far nobody doing b & e here has been wearing body armor. For myself I'm happy with my 9 mm and 556.
 
Oh, CQTBHIPDW! Why didnt you say so? I thought it read PDW, my bad. I'd strap all kinds of red dots, scopes, irons, 45 deg. irons, lasers, multiple foregrips, rail covers, paint it some ### hunting camo scheme and fire it off the hip scarface style. Be sure to yell quotes from the movie with a cigar hanging out of yer mouth while doing this at the range. Really sets the mood...
 
If this is really for close range.... Why not get a green laser and save yourself time by hip firing? But for optic, I vote for the Bushnell TRS-25!
 
LOL.... well if its running a promag 9/22 mag, you may as well just throw the gun at the guy. one shot, jam, clear, shoot, maybe twice, jam..... repeat. LOL. just the idea of a tacicool .22 home defence pdw makes me laugh, and just the idea of home defence in Canada, isnt that an oxi- moron? or just moronic? ;-) I didnt think "home defence" even existed in Canada?

you might get away with keeping a vodka powered potato cannon though....
