For the C.F. members, what is the most popular holster for the duty
Browning Hi Powers these days?

There doesn't appear to be much selection. :(

I am hoping that the CF ain't issuing the Bianchi UM84 or the M12 holster with the suicide flap from the 1980's and 90's.

Serpa and Safariland 6004's work for my game in CQB shoots, great gear! Go for it!

Cheers,
Barney

I personally don't trust the Serpa. It's made for the 1911, not the Browning. the only thing holding in the pistol is that latch, if the latch fails the pistol just falls out if inverted. The Safariland will still retain the pistol by friction if the thumb latch is down. Lots of people have had issues with the Blackhawks, so much so that many training facilities no longer permit their use. One guy in my section had one and it was almost impossible to remove the pistol most of the time.

All the C9 and C6 gunners who had to carry one for back-up just poked it into a mag pouch on their vest, from what I saw. Most guys were issued that OD Green thingamawatzit, but left it in their barrack box.

All the Kaf-dwelling soggy-bottoms patrolling between Timmy's and T.G.I.Fridays had pretty Elite Tacticool Super Spec-Ops Holsters, though.

Not sure that it matters. #### around with it and see what feels comfortabe for you.

You can try the Blackhawk Serpa level 2 for 1911 clones. Works fine for me.

I had a very bad experience with mine. The Hi Power is NOT like the 1911, its close and it fits, but the Serpa is not designed for it. The Browning moves slightly within the holster. When it moves a certain way, the takedown pin lodge sitself under the retaining latch, essentially locking it. It's not a good feeling to have to draw your side arm and realize that the retaining latch is jammed. This really was a s**tty experience.

I never bother troubleshooting how and under what conditions the pistol moved and locked itself in that way and just got rid of it.

any idea how a kydex holster for the hi power would fair in over sea's operations/conditions?. Im guessing you would need an extra bit of retention, but nothing a bungy couldnt fix.

You must have a level II holster for any combet/air or sea role.

Unless you like beening charged for a missing pistol :p

P.s. "bungy is not worth your life, buy a proper holster"
