Just as the title states, I'm looking for some experience based opinions on what these short
13 inch barrels would typically get accuracy wise? Thinking of scooping one up but only if they are accurate to atleast 50 yards further would be nice.... thanks in advance

I've used std vel ammo in it and it gets rid of some of the bite. But with the shorter barrel it will get a bit louder. Ear protection is recommended.

I have an norinco and it is good for accuracy with a scope. Open sights were garbage on this rifle due to sights moving. For loudness I do not find it that much louder with standard ammo. I have shot it out to 75y on raccoons.

Nice.
Off hand with a $300 rifle and basic ammo or something else?

Just curious as I'm pretty happy if I hit golfballs every shot at 50 yards but I'm no target shooter that's for sure!

Thats good shooting IMO. My problem with them is they don't set themselves back up after they are shot.

They keep getting harder as they roll on out..... I like to chase them!

25 yards no problem but out at 50 I'm not hitting them everyshot that's why I figured one inch groups at 50 was pretty good but I guess for some people one hole groups at 50 are a reality.....not for me!

I have a Savage Mark 2. I use CCI standard velocity ammo and I consistently shoot .5" groups at 50 yards.

Likewise. I use mostly federal, and the odd American eagle 40 grain RN. my rifle loves them.

But with the shorter barrel in mind I would expect to lose a a little accuracy. But Im definitely not satisfied with a "shotgun" grouping. But I suppose if I can hold a .5 to an inch group at 50 yards consistently I will pick one up.

Within reason, accuracy isn't really a function of barrel length. I would expect that these rifles would shoot similarly to their long-barreled counterparts.

The myth that longer barrels are inherently more accurate than shorter ones is a throwback to iron sights. A longer sight radius makes it easier to shoot well, but doesn't have anything to do with mechanical accuracy.

Me neither unless I only fire one round :D

Dont want this to come off as being rude or ignorant but i cant only phrase this one way....

so a longer barrel will not stabilize a bullet more so than a short one?

I recall an article I read years ago where they took a big old SA revolver and clamped it in a bench vice. It started as a 10 or 8" factory barrel and they shot 3 shot groups out to 25 yds. After the mean was set they started cutting off the barrel an inch at a time until they were down to 2". They showed that the group size and accuracy were not greatly reduced by a shorter barrel.

I remember that article. Was the revolver a big super blackhawk?.
