Norinco rifle quality

not quite sure how you squeeze function into that ramble..

ive owned 11 Norinco M14's ( project guns, build them up, sell them on.. kept 1 for myself ) ...

I cant recall ever having a jam, or malfunction that was the rifles fault, in any... ANY... of them, and with a ridiculous mix of ammunition as well..

triggers and safety both work, bolt stop works, butt hinge plate works.. all functioning parts of the rifle work... and for 1/6th the price too
 
I don't think you'll find much to complain about as far as the receivers go, other than the finish may not be the best, but the specs are very good.

FYI, I have both a Nork and a Poly, but the receivers are the only chinese parts on both rifles.

You may not find it in the M1A. Unless you handload, then maybe. But it will still never deliver bolt gun performance, even with a high end stock/handloads and tons of practice.
It's not what it was designed for.

Just saying.

I like to think of Canada as a land of equal opertunity... We will shoot guns from any where we can.

I have heard of people getting sub Moa accuracy from m14's but they are usually the ones that are for sale on the EE for $3000 and shoot hand loads. Mine shoots between 2-3" groups at a 100 with box ammo and I'm pretty happy with that. Good enough to shoot any zombies I run in to.
 
The way I have seen here in the forums, some people got a good rifle straight from the factory and then some ended up with bad ones.

So I guess its a Hit and Miss type of thing.

Or maybe it depended on the Chinese engineer student who machined it for his school project while doing ojt in Norinco.

Pretty much. They're a mass produced rifle. Straight out of the factory though you really do get a pretty good product. All you need is to get a hold of someone that knows what they're doing to show you some little tips and tricks to get everything nice and tight, and you're laughing with a $500 rifle.
 
The best thing about the norc is its receiver. It is forged and as close to GI spec as it gets, it alone is worth the cost of the rifle and then some. All the other parts are a bonus.

So get a Norc, a krieger barrel and a nice usgi stock, then get the thing built and tuned by a good gunsmith. He will index barrel, set headspace and properly fit and tune all those norc parts. Now you have a good accurate M14.

If you want to spend the big bucks on a US M14, import an LRB rifle and stay the hell away from Springfield Inc. LRB is forged with good parts and not cast with parts from Taiwan like today's Springfield rifles. Those boys ran out of usgi parts a long, long time ago back when they built good rifles and yet they still want the same bucks for their now substandard products.
 
Re: Springfield guns made by people who speak English - are you sure? The receiver castings (yes, castings as opposed Norinco forgings) for the M1a come from Imbel in Brazil - so I guess they're made by people who speak Portugese.
