The Jamison folks have become part of Captech International. Here is there new website http://www.captechintl.com
and here is their price list for all sorts of obsolete brass http://www.captechintl.com/files/CAPTECH%202012-2013%20Retail%20Pricelist.pdf

I don't know if it was QC on Jamieson's part, or poor reloading on my part, but 30% of my Jamieson .303 Savage have split at the neck-shoulder. I bought it just before they stopped last year. On the other hand, the same loads in .30-30 cases (resized in my .303 die) have been good for 3-4 reloads.

The Jamieson brass appeared to have been annealled, but maybe it wasn't softened enough, so I'm going to try annealling myself before using them.

I've heard that there were quality issues with Jammison brass. Is this true, and if so, have they been addressed?

For expensive brass like Jamison's, I always anneal before first use - I have zero losses to date. It's pointless to argue that you shouldn't have to.

First I've heard of it. I know a lot of fellows south of the border who reload for a lot of old calibers and they all rave about Jamison brass (as opposed to that Bell stuff). My only experience with Jamison Brass is their 38-72 brass. It is superb, first class stuff. I liked it so much, I bought a bunch more just before they closed their doors last time.

Unrelated but Bertram form Australia had out of center primer pockets/flash holes and brittle necks? Harold........Starline also has had recent problems

Yep, it's embarrassing that I didn't anneal right off the bat. A dozen cases ruined... I'm keeping them as a reminder of my foolish stubbornness.

Hang on, here Mates. I've tried ordering brass from Track and they told me that ATF down there won't let them export it. Any info on this? I've been trying like heck to find decent .45-75 Winchester, had to order 40 Bertram from Shooter's Choice for $100/20.

I hate to say this, but it is well established fact that you cannot import ammo or any ammo components from the US. Our customs doesn't care, it's the US side that's the problem. We have to either: a) buy locally or within Canada b) buy from another country

I got a reply from Jerry at Mystic Precision. He says that the new company would have to re-establish both the export license as well make a new relationship with Mystic's distributor. He says this will be a very long and slow process and honestly does not sound all that optimistic because of all the red tape involved and our limited market. Oh well.

Well there you go. Also, I think I made a mistake in blaming ATF. What I actually think I remember is that Track said it was the State Department that was the problem.

Sweet. I thought I was the only guy on here who shot 38-72.

Boys, before you get yourselves all discouraged before even trying, go to the CapTechInt website and read the first few sentences on their home page, especially the 'international' part. If in doubt, give them a call.

Tactical 870,
glad to hear you got a 38-72. There's not a whole lot of them around. I've got mine shooting sweet groups, thanks to a custom mould from Accurate Moulds.
