A lot of people kept asking for pictures of a non-restricted ACR, so here is my custom non-restricted ACR -
SS 1:7 twist barrel cerakoted black with original AAC Blackout flash hider (soon to be Battlecomp) finished with care and detail from Ian at Herron Arms - Thanks!!!!

This is what it looks like. Hopefully it'll be a bit better when I can get my hands on the basic handguard - I still dislike how the gas tube is exposed in my railed version.

And since I haven't really been able to figure out how to post pictures on CGN very well, here's the link to all the pics http://s1073.photobucket.com/albums/w394/sasuke_sarut0bi/. Let me know what you think. Unless you're here to tell me how much money I wasted on this AR when I could get something else blah blah in which case I don't care for your opinion. :p

Looks like Ian came though with another nice conversion.

Which barrel brand did you go with?

Did Ian offer to turn a flash hider directly in the barrel? I believe he's done with on Swiss Carbine conversion. Obviously you already had the original FH, but curious to know of the price difference.

Around $800 all included, if you don't mind me asking?

I've started talking with Ian regarding converting a Carbine for me. Just need to offload another piece or two and it'll be happening!

Congrats

Thats badass and makes me horny

makes me horny that you're horny..................... what?

:dancingbanana:

seriously though, nice job, I'm going to send my ACR in to Harron very soon. I just wish an extended handguard was made to cover up most of the barrel.

Now that would make me...... what? .....

Hahaha!

Yes Ian, I love it and I'm super happy with it! I'll probably have my 300 BLKOUT project coming your way soon, possibly also with a Tavor barrel as my accuracy right now leaves something to be desired. Thanks again you guys are awesome.

To BenL, yeah Ian really came through. I just went with Ian's top quality barrel blank, I'm not quite sure what the brand is. He did offer to turn the flash hider directly into the barrel but since I purchased a Battlecomp and like screwing around with that stuff a little bit and my original barrel has the AAC I decided not to go for it. I think my price without the included flash was only 50 bucks less so you got a good deal :D

I feel safe now knowing that your barrel is 2 inches longer... thank you!

I'm glad :D. You should also know it is locked in a room with concrete walls 2 feet thick, in a bulletproof titanium lockbox with my other firearms. Also I'm an Asian guy who helps puppies at the local shelter and the Salvation Army at Christmas so I'm no threat to anyone.

Ok, the bulletproof titanium lockbox is a lie but the rest is true. Except also the puppies, they're usually mangy, malnourished older strays :(.

If it is part of the barrel, does that mean it counts as part of the barrel length?

Gawd damn that is awesome.

Review between this crazy cat and the Tavor? :D

Hey man, I watched an absolute ton of your videos haha! I'm a fan even though I don't really emulate your tactical style. Unfortunately, comparing this and the Tavor is like comparing an apple to an orange :(. In terms of ergonomics, I just feel more comfortable with the ACR, reloading, with the bolt release right at my finger tips. However, the Tavor I feel like has better balance and much better "pointability" if that's even a term, as well as mobility. The ACR is not really that heavy; although it is heavier than an AR, the balance seems fine to me and I don't see why people always tend to complain how it's front heavy like my RA XCR. The Tavor trigger I honestly think is absolutely atrocious and compared to a Geissele match...well, it's hard to go back lol. In terms of reliability, I honestly have no way of telling at this point - I'm not one of those guys who fires off a thousand rounds and thinks he knows everything. However, so far, I have had ZERO problems with either rifle. I will probably update with a video review when I put at least a few thousand rounds downrange in somewhat adverse conditions. Accuracy? ACR hands down - I'm able to nail targets pretty easily , but again, I'm not sure if it's because of familiarity with the AR platform, my lacking and now improving skill or the gun's capabilities.

Oh well, it's not like I'm selling any of them so I don't have to choose - I have an XCR too lol. Each of them has something special to offer and I think anybody picking any of these platforms will be pretty happy. I know Blaxsun is going to jump in with his customary "XCR/ACR SUCKS!!", but both of them have really grown on me so I'm definitely keeping them :).

If it's one piece and non-removable, yes :). Which is why I'm guessing BenL had that done haha so you could have a barrel that's technically over 18.5 but a LITTLE shorter lol.

hold on a quick minute - I recall someone on CGN told me that only the actual barrel was measured, even if the muzzle device is permanently attached.

So the restricted ACR barrel is 16.5 inches, plus another 2 inches for the muzzle device (2 inches?!), that would make it non-restricted length, so all you would have to do is pin the muzzle device to the barrel and it would make it non-restricted... am I getting something wrong here!?

someone please correct me.
