Ok well clearly you guys have information that I don't. Nothing I've seen in the Firearms Act, the regs, or on the CFC website says anything about hotels.

If you've phone the CFC and they've said yes you can do that, great. I've never bothered to ask them because I don't find it a burden to do my maintenance at the range instead of the hotel.

Given what I've seen I came to the conclusion that:
- You can only possess at the endpoints of your ATT
- My ATT says nothing about some hotel
- Therefore I cannot possess at a hotel, it is still "in transit"

I don't think based on the information I had at hand that I made an unreasonable conclusion. Clearly based on all your reactions I'm wrong and you've got some information I don't.
 
The CFC lists information and fact sheets for firearms owners... why wouldn't someone look there as an information resource? I'm not saying I went there digging... I'm saying in all the times I've been there I've never seen anything on this topic.

Given that I wasn't the one who needed to know in the first place, why would you expect me to go out of my way and make a phone call for information that I don't really need? If the OP needs to know, he can certainly make the call. In fact, he should!

You don't have to be so harsh.
 
I have talked to the cfo twice about this subject and as long as you have a reason to be staying there you are ok EI. a competition or a course. I have a cottage 2 hours from my home but 1 hour from base borden where i compete. When i go on vacation and have a competition i bring my restricted firearms.

Geebus... the FA doesn't have to say anything about "hotels"... You're renting accomodation. For the term of that rental period that room is your home. You're entitled to all the benifits of being at "home"... Including that if the po-lice wanted to enter... They'd need a warrant.

We don't have "information"... We just have a clearer understanding of what's written on the back of the ATT.
Read it CAREFULLY... Then read it AGAIN.... CAREFULLY.
Two main points...

"Reason"
Transport to and from an approved shooting club or shooting range for target practice..."


Conditiond and destinations:

"Firearms must be transported by a route that in all circumstances is reasonably direct."


You're "circumstance" is that you're staying in a hotel on your way to a range.



Now... I'm jsut wondering why you're not worried that as worded your ATT isn't any good for attending a BB course anyway;) I mean, It says "Transport to and from an approved shooting club or shooting range for target practice"..... Not to attend a course, which really isn't target practice... It's a course.:stirthepot2:
