Moisin Nagant problems help please!

Hi folks just got a Moisin Nagant and it came with the bayonete attached and I cannot get the damn thing to come off , also it came with a pouch with some items for servicing the rifle but I have no idea what they do. I cannot find any info readilly available info on the site as the search function on the site is useless.Any ideas? Is there a place I can go that will show me the use of the tools from the pouch? This rifle is quickly becomming less fun!:mad:
 
Yes the bayos are very very tight! They were built that way. Depress button, twist bayo then a block of wood and a hammer and swing away. I bought a couple before Xmas and installing the bayos on them took some gentile persuassion with a wood block and a hammer. I ended up polishing inside of one bayo to get it to go on and off easier. Very fun and cool guns though.
 
It is a 91/30 laminate that I got from Frontier. It is a heavy refurb but I did not get to look it over too close last night as I my daughter was in a car accident and that took up my whole evening sorting out the nightmare.She is ok but the car is a write off.I did give it a quick once over without my glasses at about 3 am . If I get any time to myself this weekend I will do a strip/clean on her and see what I have.Looking foreward to put some rounds down range and see what she will do.Thanks to all for the help.:)
 
I found info on the net telling me how to make them fit better without polishing or filing .Take a hammer or prybar and insert the claw portion into the bayo net opening and hit the end with another hammer to spread the opening up a bit....worked like a charm and now mine goes on and off easy.
 
Combination tool is very usefull as you measure your firing pin protrusion on the bolt with it. This must be done after disassembly of the bolt.

When reassembling the bolt the end is screwed down until the firing pin has the correct protrusion
The pin should protrude far enough out that it wont go through the small hole (75) and it should go through the bigger hole (95).

Some of these were set for a 300 meter zero so they will hit high ...a cheap fix is to use a piece of stripped elec wire that is put on top of the front post or do what I did and order a set of smith sights for it.I just ordered a front sight with 2 posts from Josh $39 US and $15 for shipping. He replied quickly to my email questions and helped me place the order.He ships free to the USA.

Same here.

The OP should take it off for storage obviously, but how it shoots with or without will take some sight adjustments. I currently shoot with it on, but I was lucky and my bayo fits nicely.
 
First of all I hope your daughters ok and not too shook up. Second I hope you get everything figured out with your Mosin as they are really an awesome gun to hold and shoot. Just something about picking up that heavy ass commie war machine makes me kinda beam and I'm suddenly all smiles especially when
tossing some lead down range. Gotta say I love this gun but not romantically more like the love for a grandmother or other sweet old lady after all she is 76 (the gun not grandma :) )Anyways have fun with your new sweet old lady ;)
 
Yup. the 2x4 mallet is what i use to take off the bayo. They were made to be on tight so the soldiers did not remove them.
 
Hi again and thanx for all the info.Did the lube and wack with a block of wood and a mallet and it poped right off. I have a 1932 hex reciever / Tula built / laminate stock / bolt looks origional / trigger group has been forced matched for the third time to the rifle.It seems tight to the shoulder so I think I will do the butt extension/recoil mod.I see there is a muzzle break available has anyone tried this mod? The daughter is ok other than a bit of soreness and a few bruises.Is there a dedicated area that only talks about the rifle on this site? Again thanks for all the positive input!:dancingbanana:
