Who bought a hunting rifle that just gathers dust?

I keep a few new rifles on hand for the times that i feel like playing with a new gun, but don't feel like drivin to town to pick 1 up.

I was smiling reading most of the posts till I read yours then I started to laugh! funny part is i wish I had a collection like that and can see the allure. good stuff

Any of you bought a rifle with full intentions to hunt with, but just never did? What, and how long have you had it...

I have a few..
A rem 7600 in 260 that I picked up a few yrs back, and have yet to use it..Not even on targets, always mean to but just don't get around to it..

I have had a Ruger 44 semi international for over 10yrs that I never did use..

Two Marlin MR-7s. One in 25-06, and another in 280..Used the 25-06 a couple times when I first got it, but not since..Have not fired a shot out of the 280, as it is NIB..Had them both for a number of years...

say what??? tell me more about it! We might be able to become best friends real quick! :D

Haha I've forgotten that I own certain guns before, just like the poster above me.

It is funny though that no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to get to less than around 15 guns.

In the days when I would have 30+ I would forget that I owned certain guns, most of the time it was the m305 that needed a part to get shooting (3+ years lol)

Yes, I do have an older brain that is slowing down in speed quite rapidly, I do forget what I own at times, I have to go look at my list of arms on paper, the guns are mixed in the safes with 3 other son's arms. At times I think that I have nothing to sell or trade, but after looking at the list, I can usually find a couple for our table at the next gun show. But that will come to an end sooner or later.

I can't buy a gun without going out with a couple boxes of bullets! All my guns are shot regularly, it's nice to pump a few through all of them in a day!

pump, oh no, not pump! my least favorite of all! lever, bolt, single shot, s/a then pump. just a :p go ahead and pump it untill the cows come home! ;)

Got it on a trade here ,for a Iver Johnson M1 Carbine...When I got the 44 it came in original box without a scratch, even where it loads had no marks...Best trade I ever made!

Out of the three shotguns I own, my mint Model 12 with its high end wood and extra barrel is the only one that doesn't get used.

Out of hunting rifles - I have a Model '94 carbine with peep sights that are loose, so it doesn't get used. I know easy fix. But I have two other levers that I use instead. My other safe queen is a scoped Tikka T3 Lite in .270 WSM - which is too bad because its a helluva gun. But it doesn't suit where I now hunt. I'll never sell it though, if I'm shooting long or hunting moose its my go to gun.
