Hi Guys,
Just wondering if there are any metal 30rd pinned to 5rd Mags available in Canada? I see a lot of Tapco Plastic type but I want to keep my original wood stock on my Chinese SKS and heard the Tapco Mags don't fit without modification to the stock.Thought maybe I would see if I could find one that I could just drop in with little work involved...:D ...just to change the look.
thanks

tapco mags do fit on wood stocks , in some cases it might need a little sanding

Yeah I am trying to avoid that if I can....:D I was hoping maybe Metal ones were available that would just fit in to place but I can't seem to find any in Canada. Oh well I may just have to leave it stock no biggie. Thanks anyway though.

The duckbill on my metal mag don't seem to catch. Won't stay in place. Not reliable at all! On my Sks that is. Tapco works best. I only had to remove a small amount of wood on each side. Not noticeable. Tapco mag might need slight mod.

After sanding down the wood will the Rifle's original Mag fit back into place? that is my main concern about using the Tapco Mag's.

The small amount of sanding on the stocks magwell is not even noticable and does not effect the fitment of the original mag. In my opinion Tapco is the only way to go. I would recommend staying away from the aftermarket metal duckbill mags. I have tried the no-name metal mags on the market today with no luck, bent feed lips, broken spot welds ect ect ect.

Oh yeah! Absolutely. I just used a really sharp knife and just shaved a bit off each side and kept trying mag until it came in and out easy. You can't even tell unless you strip rifle. It didn't take much. You might need to file the front corners of mag where mag and duckbill meet not a lot just a little off corners. My tapco mags work perfectly. I can take a pic of mag mod if you want. Just pm me. I might forget to check this thread. I had too for all my mags. Not sure if all sks's need this mod to mags

Thanks Guys, I think maybe I will go with the Tapco Mag after all...I thought I would have to do a lot of Modification to get it to fit but if only a little sanding is required and the original will still fit that works for me....:)

The one on the right has been filed a little bit. Just take the corners off. one on the left is new and won't fit my Sks as is
