First Pistol 9mm

I reallllly like my Sig P226. I'd say you get great bang for your buck as it is quite easy to switch calibers if you get the caliber x-change kits, it shoot very well, and just looks ###y.

Beretta 92fs INOX. Looks great and shoots better. Great balance. I tried on all kinds before deciding. I'm not a fan of those plastic things. They look like toys. No disrespect to anyone who's a fan of them, btw.

I'm just gonna state the not so obvious I guess. Bruce and Mel....bruce willis, die hard movies. And Mel Gibson, lethal weapon movies. Jeeze. Back to the topic.
I do enjoy shooting my buddies 92fs, but my vote is for the p226. It may be on the expensive side compared to most of the other pistols voted, but IMO, there's nothing not to love about it. All technical aspects aside (cause they've been stated 100 times) it just feels good in the hands, and its a dream to shoot. Everyone that's ever come to the range with me that has been around the block and shot a couple different pistols, always ends up loving my sig. I could ramble off technical aspects but if you asked me, that's all in the hands of the shooter and not the pistol of choice.

I am just minutes removed from an EMT of a lot of my cold, hard cash, on a P226 9mm with a .22 conversion as well. Now my underwhelming faith in humanity kicks in... I'm new to CGN and my first purchase on EE so crossing my fingers, although I had my dad go see the gentleman so I believe I have nothing to worry about! But ever since I shot a SIG in Edmonton I've lived them, a dream coming true!:dancingbanana:

Hmm, I was thinking of getting two pistols, but the p226 9 with a .22 conversion sounds pretty much ideal for what I want. I'll look into these more for sure.

$879, also the 22 kit $259 is cheapest at Cabela's, (if it's in stock).

Most new Sig226's go for about $925 or so, Cabela's has the cheapest price. I am sure if you pay cash you get close to these deals at a CGN dealer... I haven't been looking lately.

One on the must try list is the Grand Power K100 or the STI GP6 (Same gun, different slide markings)

The Mk6 models fit most hands well. The Mk7 with the 4 different backstraps fit virtually everyone. The light single action pull has to be tried to be believed.

Seems one of these threads pop up once a week.

Only 9mm I own is a Beretta 92fs, black with hogue grips. Recently took it to the range for the first time in about a year and I remember why I love this handgun :D Extremely tight group (wish I took a picture).

I believe the safety/de cocker would be a bit of an issue in competitions (I don't shoot in them but I believe a safety on a glock or m&p would be better for that) but just for plinking, I would recommend a 92fs to anyone!

Oh and make sure it's Italian made

I own a S&W M&P9 range kit and I love it. I have put around 1,000 rounds through it and the only problem with it was a squib that was my reloading fault.

Having just completed the IPSC Black Badge course and taking every other handgun in consideration, I like the "single action feel" of mine. At the course there were a couple Glocks, several Sigs, and a couple less common models.
I lent a buddy my Norinco NP22 (SIG 226 copy)for the course and we compared our experiences in the IPSC style. We both commented on how little we have to do with the M&P compared to the double action and decocking with the Sigs. This is really only a consideration for IPSC in my opinion. For general target shooting they are all good.

Overall I am completely satisfied with my M&P and the diffence in cost between it and a Sig would get me another 6 mags!

I got myself a ruger sr9 . I liked the way it felt and the price was one of most competitive

P226.

I have owned the M&P 9 and Glock 17 and the Sig P226 is better than them easily. More money than the Glock or M&P but more features like the decocker plus the steel frame makes 9mm an absolute pussy cat.

I own the beretta 92fs, italian made. It does perform to my liking. I am at 4000 rounds thru it, and finish looks just as good as when i unboxed it. Hammer release lever broke off at 3000 rounds. It's double action, suitable for production ipsc, and has ipsc holsters made for it. Personally, i would buy the same pistol again. I do hear awesome reviews on sigs and CZs shadow. As i do hear awesome ones for the 92, for me it's accurate, and has a nice full metal weight to it.

S&W M&P 9mm is what I have and I love it, never had an issue with reliablity, it like pretty much all modern handguns is more accurate than you will ever be able to be. The sights are decent, unfortunatley they are not adjustable for elevation but that is not a huge issue as they should be pretty much on from the factory. Also the ergonomics are in opinion better than any other double stacked pistol on the market.

It is also a reasonable price and the range carry kit adds further value.

I won't knock all the other pistols out there as there are alot of good ones but I chose the M&P 9 and would choose it again if given the chance to make the decision over again.

What I like: Beretta 92FS, Sig P226, CZ Shadow

Why I like them: I like metal guns that weigh something

I have big hands and prefer the "thump" recoil vs. "snap" recoil that you tend to get with tupperware (not that there's anything wrong with that...).
