I am new hunter and am looking for some advice. My wife and I have hit the same spot for elk for the last 2 days. We have been bugling back and forth with a few Bulls and had one come within 50 yards but the bush was too thick for a shot. just as we were heading back to the truck we got busted by a bull and he hightailed it. My questions is, should we keep going to the same spot tonight and tomorrow in hopes of suckering in one of the other bulls or leave the critters be for a few days? thanks

Quit bugling and start cow calling would be my advice. Ideally between you and your wife at least 3 different calls, none of them hoochie momma's. (no horny guy of any species willingly goes to a sausage fest, especially if it could mean getting all beat up and still no laid-ies 
)
Best cow call I have is a little plastic one I bought for a buck maybe 30 yrs ago. Uses a rubber band as a reed and looks like something that'd come in a crackerjacks box. If you ever see one, buy it.

We were using a mix of cow calls and bugles. Were new to this and only have 2 days of experience talking to elks. The one Bull that busted us was responding to a nasty mess of cow calls I was throwing out there to make my wife laugh. Can we be there to often? Are the elk gonna move off on thier own and were lucky to find a few in the same spot?
Once harrassed, give me a couple days to cool off. If you can hear me first...you have an upper hand. Then come in quiet until you get in my comfort zone (50-80 yards and let off a couple soft cow calls.) Often best to team up with a caller 50 yards behind and with you silent in front, on the ready. Most people over call the elk this time of year cause I already got my harem. So let me do the walkin and talkin when you are really close. Good luck.
