Anyone Reloading .32 Win Special?

I load for a couple of them. Components are fairly easy to get, brass being the hardest. I use IMR 3031 if memory serves. - dan

You can easily reform 30-30 Win. into the 32 Spec. by just running them through your 30-30 full length sizing die.Make sure you have the necks well lubed,I loaded this caliber for a few shooting buddies and looking back in my journal around half the rounds I loaded were reformed 30-30 cases.

Did I read this correctly? Wouldn't the 30 30 brass need to go through the 32 Win Special FL sizing dies?

I just started loading it. IMR-3031, IMR-4895, Unique and 170gn cast bullets make for a lot of fun.

I am pretty sure bjmurata means running the 30-30 cases through the 32 win spc. FL die, as that is my method. Get some imperial sizing wax or Hornaday unique sizing wax. It will save you loads of time.

Yes,that is what I meant.Sorry about that.The coffee hadn't kicked in yet!!

The expander on your .32 win spcl fl die first has to gently expand .30 cal neck to .32(if it has a gentle taper), then fl size 30-30 in .32 die. Jacketed bullets should measure .321(not pointed for tubular mag). Some undersize 8mm jacketed bullets may do if slightly undersize and not pointed. GC cast old lyman mold works great with light load on unique.

I would be interested to hear from others who have used 8mm bullets in a 32 Sp. What would be the maximum diameter that would be safe? There are a ton of 8mm bullets available, but not much choice in 32.

Just bought a set of dies for mine. Great to hear that I can use 30-30 brass. But getting .321 bullets will be the difficult part.

Any other brands besides Hornady, if so where can I buy them?

I cast from an antique Winchester mold for the 32 Winchester.
The bullets drop at .323" from the mold and they shoot great as is.
Of course in the old days there was no such thing as gas checks so velocity has to be limited to "plinking speeds".

I got a new mold for gas check 165 gr 32-40 and 32 Special cast bullets. They are working well in 32-40 but I haven't tried them in 32 Spl.
