I haven't purchased any new firearms this month, because I made a pretty large investment instead - my first house. But as a consolation prize I finally get the gun room I've always wanted.

When I moved in the room was painted bright purple (the previous owner's young daughter's bedroom), so obviously that was the first thing to go. I just finished installing some sturdy coat hooks from the Home Depot on which to hang my muzzle loaders and got all the cabinets moved in.

Next I plan on getting an old spice rack and hanging it above the light switch to display my modest cartridge collection. The "I heart guns" sign will be hung on the back of the door. I also plan on getting some metal shelving for ammo and putting it in the closet.

Now I have to work out a way to display bayonets and holsters - I'm considering installing some slat board to hang them on with hooks, but I'm concerned about weight. I tested (in the closet) just hanging them from nails in the walls but it looked pretty cheap. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm also open to other ideas about interesting ways of decorating / displaying.

Here's a thought, for your bayonet display;

Mount them in their own frame (like a picture frame with a felt backed mat to attach your stuff to), and then hang that, like a heavy picture.

2 cents.

GO AWAY!!!
I live in a townhouse, and despite my 2 gunlockers, they are spilling out into the hallway!!! I am totally jealous, but good on you!

Doesn't look like any PMQ I ever lived in - it's nice!

Really? PMQs are really that nice?

They can be. People are allowed to upgrade them with things like hardwood, new paint etc.

There are still a bunch of crap ones but there are some decent one's out there still. I was thinking it was a Q because of the doors and the look of the room with the hardwood.

I could be wrong.

replace the door with a white steel door with bolt locks opposite the hinge's. It will keep your things safer than a standard wood door that give way.

Nah, not a PMQ. I'm just a class A reservist these days so I'm not entitled. I actually own it. I don't want to make any major renovations though, it'll just make it harder to sell.
