Got out to the range today with my kids to exercise the new vz58 carbine and a stack of other guns.
The carbine performed as expected, no hitches at all. Got 2"-3" groups at 50yds with Czech surplus, which is fine for me considering the short sight radius, coarse sights and ammo used. The brake does a great job of reducing recoil and muzzle rise, it feels like the vz has half the recoil of the SKS, which is impressive considering the size and weight of the carbine.
First up, my oldest shooting a centerfire rifle for the first time ever, my 1953 refurb SKS: http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/...?action=view¤t=100_2277_zps68ad68d2.mp4
Followed by the vz58: http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/...?action=view¤t=100_2278_zpsb9ef1987.mp4
Then kid #2 shooting the vz: http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/...?action=view¤t=100_2279_zpsc89dc064.mp4
It was a beautiful day and a great time was had by all. Son #1 also shot his deer rifle for the first time today and is now very stoked for his first big game season coming this fall.
