let me see your cheek risers... need ideas.

I have a savage 93r17 with the plastic stock, its working out good for me other than the cheek weld being way too low. i need some ideas on what cheek risers work and look good, i recall seeing a black lace up one (black hawk i think) which i really liked, but have no clue where to order from. any ideas would be wonderful. and sorry to say it but im not looking for any blocks of wood sanded down to fit in any way, just not my thing.

I made this one out of a scrap of plastic with a couple of SS carriage bolts and plastic knobs from HomeDepot.

Thanks for both suggestions guys, I feel if I was to pick one of these it would be elimsprints, however still not exactly what I'm looking for. I would prefer some sort of strap on type.

But lets keep the pics and ideas coming.
 
The only problem with the strap ons is you only have the one height. I find I change mine for prone, bench and offhand shooting. I didn't know about the one from TacPro or I probably would have gone that route myself, @$18.95 it's a steal.

Ok. So, I'll be honest here ive never had to use any kind of cheek rest before, normally I would have just lived with it, BUT..... with this DIY kit, I'd assume u heat it with a blow dryer or in the oven or something to get it to the shape you need? or do you just bolt it on and let it stay in that shape with the natural resistance?
 
I have the Blackhawk tie on pad on my Cooey .22 mod 39. As this is a boy's rifle I also installed a wooded spacer to the butt plate as an extension.

As too “the pad”, it is great. It is adjustable, by moving the pad left or right, you are able to change the contact point with your face. Quick and easy to remove and if needed to reinstall on another rifle. It follows the KISS principle.

I would guess a heat gun would do the trick, that's how I did mine. I just heated it up on my work bench and draped it over the stock. I had previously marked lines on the stock using the cardboard template I made. I drilled it using a cordless, not my drill press.

here's one I whipped up for my SKS.
I cut up the sleeve from an old jacket
It was more for the stripper pouch on the side...I didn't need much rise so the pad is slim,but can be made as thick as you like.
Just laces on along the bottom.

I just got this one from Zahal for $25 shipped. I'm going to modify it's mount a bit and put it on my Savage .243 because I have a 50mm objective scope on it and need the higher comb. I would have gone with the TacPro one but I just learned about it from this thread.

I bought a strap on (velcro) allen brand pad, about $12. it was too thin/low, so I added a few layers of padding cut from an old yoga mat to build it up to the right height. all good now.
