I just recently moved to the Kitchener area and Luther marsh is not to far and sells day passes for duck hunting. Has anyone had any experiences there and can tell me what it's like? How much scouting ahead of time should I do, kinda a long drive. I was thinking of scouting day and then doing an evening hunt.

Any suggestions or tips for hunting there would be great. Thanks

It's only 45 minutes. There is an access road that loops the whole area. Multiple boat launches.
If you want to hunt from shore there are a tonne of nice reed beds on the west side near the boat launches.

The whole area was just loaded with ducks yesterday. Not that I could lure one in. Smart jerks.

Did you ever hunt the Holland Marsh? Don't forget Simcoe if you have a boat, usually lots of blinds in Cook's Bay.

Hey, I have only hunted Holland Marsh for deer, and I had a bad experience there with some other ####### hunters. But I have never gone there for waterfowl, I dont have a boat, could I hunt Holland without a boat?

i do, but its tough... do you have a dog? if not, retrieves will be your main problem... the area is too deep for waders...

when i go, i only have a short window of oppertunity when a downed duck will fall on dry ground (or be reachable with a long stick)

oh, and last night it sounded like a warzone, but that will deminish into october.

There is also hullet marsh by Clinton On lots of walk in spots there
Hunted Luther for years but no much anymore the ducks learn real quick there and a boat is prefered to get away from the beaten path

Luther Marsh? Man that brings back memories, I cut my teeth on Waterfowling there as a 15 year old......almost 34 seasons ago! I haven't been there in years, it was free and a limited entry when I used to go there with my neighbor who took pity on the kid across the road who wanted to hunt. There was a lot of hunters and the guy who used to take me hunted it back when it was first impounded and there were no entry restrictions. He told me stories of opening days with 2000 hunters crammed into the place which by his accounts was a mass of flooded timber loaded with tens of thousands of waterfowl. It would be interesting to go back some day and see what changes have occurred since my first introduction to the place in 1978.
