This is my first post here, but I've been lurking for a bit. Great info to be found! Anyway, I just bought a Mosin Nagant, and I was wondering if there are any parts prone to failure? Just need an idea of what I should pickup for spares.

Trade Ex at the top of the page on this site has a lot of parts at a decent price.

If they don't have it then go to:

They have all you need and they ship to Canada!

The Mosin fackin' rocks! :runaway:

Yes to Tradeex. That said, you are unlikely to need much. These things were made to work on the battlefield and most have been refurbed since.

I have half a dozen or so Moisin-Nagants all the way from 1906 through 1943.

Only thing I have ever found amiss with any of them was a cracking-off locking-lug on the 1906. Cost about 6 bucks to replace with a brand-new one.

The ejector/interupter on mine was not working. It was not ejecting the casing (wasn't contacting the base of the cartridge when the bolt was drawn to the rear) and thus not pushing the interupter to the side to allow the next cartridge in the mag to rise up.

I ordered the $7 part.......just before I took the rifle apart, cleaned the slot for the ejector and bent the spring lightly by hand after which the rifle cycled all 5 rounds flawlessly hahahahaha

Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes......

All said, there is not really much that goes wrong with a Mosin. I have a bunch of them, several still in grease from the refurb factory. At a hundred bucks per rifle, why not have a few spares.

Look on the bright-side, you have a spare now if the original ever fails.
