I need a hunting boot reccomendation

both cabelas and basspro has boots made in china that uses cheap rubber for the soles that freezes up like that. Invest in a good pair of lowa's, hanwags, asolo's, danners, or better quality boot. Will last several seasons, and extremely well made.

I have a pair of Irish Setter Snow Tracker Pac boots, the problem I have is I sweat in them & then freeze my feet. I have tried a few different socks & just can't seem to get the right thing to work. if I was to buy another pair I will get a pair with less insulation.

This is going to sound silly but If your feet are sweating you might be over dressed. My feet sweat like a hooker in church so I have some experience with this problem. can you wear wool socks? i get my hunting socks from the same people that make the wool socks for the CF. They are a Quebec company called duray and the socks are called "army socks". lastly keep your cotton socks for the gym, they suck in cold weather.

I'm satisfied with my 2 pairs of Irish Setters as well. They had a bit of long break-in period IMHO, but they're like putting on a pair of well worked-in pigskin gloves these days.

I had quit the opposite experience. My Irish Setter "Big Game II"s had less of a break in period then any other piece of foot wear ive ever worn. Like almost non-existent.

yes I can wear wool socks but haven't use plain wool, I have a bunch of merino wool socks which I have used in the boots and still have the same issue. The boots are 1400 gram of thinsulate and it doesn't matter if I'm standing or walking out I still get wet then very cold feet.

I was thinking of going to a Irish Setter boot with 600 or 800 gram of thinsulate to see if this issue will change.

I have never used merino wool so I cant comment on them. I guess try another boot. Sorry I couldn't help.

I have a pair of Meindl's, and one of Irish Setters. BUT 5 pairs of Danner's currently in use. Yard work pair have developed a leak after 11 years of use. two pair are uninsulated, one is 200 gms Thinsulate, and the last has 400 gms. I particularly like the Acadians as they come in "B" width.
Go on line and research the Danner line. Once you have registered they send monthly newsletters with specials.

Call me crazy but i use a pair of dunlops with a quality gator, and together it makes the best boots I've ever hunted in, supposedly extremely good for locking in scent too. I only wouldn't recommend it right now with how freakishly warm this fall has been, it'll bake ur feet.

Danner's are awesome boots.... nothing bad to say about them.

However, I just bought a pair of Lacrosse Alpha rackmasters.... haven't given them a real workout yet.. but so far I like them for what I was looking for.

Another Danner vote here. My Hood Winter Lights are easily one of the nicest boots I've ever worn; comfortable right out of the box and extremely well crafted. Some of Danner's boots are made off-shore but those made in the US are some of the best boots money can buy.

I always wear two sets of socks. One pair of Wigwam Ultimax liner socks. The one pair of Wigwam Merino Light Hiker or Wigwam 40-Below wool socks. The liners are very thin. They work fantastic for wicking away moisture, are form fitting, and are slippery so they eliminate blisters. They feel "cool" but actually really aren't, and keep my feet bone dry. The wool socks of course provide insulation and cushioning.

Buying boots can get expensive, but I would suggest getting larger boots, especially in the toe box. I find tight boots squish the foot, and reduce blood circulation. You kind of want that warm blood flowing freely down there. At the very least, loosen up your existing boots, wearing less socks, and see how that goes.

My Hunter Education instructor recommended these...

I love my Neos .

I can put my boots iin them...or go with sneakers in them if I want to move quicker.
I have had mine for 5 years and have put them through hell. They go to the field with me at work and have been on countless hunting trips. They are very light weight and completly waterproof.

I was sceptical of these boots at first ( they do not look like much ) but they have withstood the test of time and have been used hard for years.

I have a pair of Irish Setter mountain claw 800gram insulated. there a nice light warm boot but should NOT be worn any where that you will incounter ice as they are the slipperyest damn boots I have ever owned.

Had my Danners for 18 years and love them, been resoled once already, take good care and Im sure they'll last a lifetime.

Worth every penny.
