I am picking myself up a Tavor, and then I got to thinking. With our brilliant gun laws always changing, is there any chance the Tavor becomes restricted? Realistically, could they somehow restrict all Bullpups or find some other reason to flip the "range only" switch on it?

Sure, anything's possible with an NDP-Liberal-PQ coalition... They could also prohibit it too with an OIC, although I probably didn't make you feel any better with that last part. ;)

I decided to convert mine into a CTAR (restricted), so it won't affect me any. :D

Not while the CPC are in power but after they are out I can't see it being anything but prohibited. BUT if you buy it now it is not registered ;)

sold mine to Mike in Canmore. dunno what they might be looking for.

damnit blax you beat me to it.

I sold mine to chuck finley. Longgggg ago. All the pictures I post of mine are olldddddd

Good thing you sold it, because Chuck Finley will have no use for it , either!

Don't you guys see, if it becomes restricted and it's not registered to you,
it will be totally useless, besides a good memory, as it lays buried in the backyard.
So the Government dosen't know you have it, big deal!
The only way it is sure to stay that way, is if you don't use it.
Tough-talkin' cool dudes, will be just that.;)

Our gun laws haven't had any significant changes in almost 20 years. And if you read those laws, you will find the answer to your question, because:

THE LAW PROVIDES NO MECHANISM TO DECLARE A FIREARM MODEL RESTRICTED.

If the CFO reviews a firearm and finds it is suitable for sporting purposes, it is non-restricted. If he finds it is not suitable, it is declared prohibited. Restricted is not an option.

None of the above prevents an variant from being restricted due to barrel length or because it's a handgun, of course.

If they revise the rules I don't think they'll be going after rifles by name. When the Liberals/NDP get back into power they will be going after handguns and all semi-automatic rifles like their counterparts have done in the UK and Australia. Of course they will be able to show the public how these new laws have worked so well for our commonwealth cousins when it comes to reducing crime...

+1 on this. I always laugh when guys bury a rifle, or disassemble it down to individual parts and then carefully hide each part.

That'll show them darn antis a thing or two! I still own a gun...I just can't access it or use it...but I beat the system 'cuz I'm soooo smart.

And there are also some, who still hunt with handguns. I know this for a fact.;)

But real men are far and few between, in Canada.:)

Look on the bright side, if Canada ever goes full retard (NDP majority), it may just be worth it to source a suppressor, and then unpin the mags!

In for a penny, in for a pound. :D
