10/22 missing function

Wow! Obviously not a lot of range shooters here. Perhaps it's only my club? During cease fires the bolt must be locked open to demonstrate an empty chamber. In fact, anytime the gun is not being used the bolt is locked open. I see the benefit of not having to ####-around each time to chamber a round, but then again I shoot often. Keep those safe queens clean. ~Cheers

yah i know the 10/22 is not designed to be a combat rifle, but when its in a nomad stock, with multiple 25rd mags, thats about as combat oriented as its gets lol. im just used to it being a nice feature on every other semi auto rifle/pistol i own. it does have the auto release lever, and i was having extractor issues right away, so i tried to find a vq, but no luck so i "tuned" mine. we'll see how it holds up. anyone know where to order a vq from that actually ships to canada?

The 10/22 DOES have a hold open feature, it just doesnt auto hold after the last round is fired. It has to be set manually and is located right behind the mag release so its really easy to lock the bolt and pull the mag all in one motion.

I think his point was that having to lock open frequently at the range means having to manually release the bolt as well. The auto release mod eliminates that one trivial step.

Bolt hold open for my 10/22 was the first mod I ever saw fit to do with mine.

####canned it. Gone.

Every now and again, it engaged when it was not wanted. Easy fix. That was way over 20 years ago, and it wasn't missed.

Ammo is cheap, mag changes are easy, I've never faced a horde of charging gophers that couldn't wait long enough for me to rack the action to reload after the click.
It's all good, though.

I admit, it would be bloody handy for them that wanna be, to be able to use the 10/22 in a build that would allow the hand motions/drills to match up with the 'real' thing, but, if you really need to practice skills and drills....Ain't nothing like the real thing!

Cheers
