M2A1 Halftrack Resto dialup beware

This is one heck of a truck. Kudos to you for taking on the restoration.

And just FYI -- there are army trucks in use RIGHT NOW that are in worse shape than what he started with!

Vettes:

There's a guy just posted an M3 .50 Browning for sale in the EE you might be interested in. True, it's not an M2, but by adding a few minor parts it would look identical to a real M2.

I have no connection to the seller and have no idea what he would take as he's asking for a trade plus cash.

Watched this the other day, immediately thought of this thread...

As cool as that video is, it's clear they are firing blanks. The barrel is not recoiling at all relative to the dampening cylinders. A full power load would see the barrel recoil backwards around 2 feet after each shot.

as cool as that video is, the prime mover is, of course, wrong-sdkfz7 would be the appropriate, not a 251- ie a 8 tonne, not a 3

Finally the floor is in the shop. Here are some shots.
Now i have to unload it and see what else is tucked in there

Looks like the pallet they used was not up to the load - lol. Hopefully the rear armor didn't get warped or bent as a result?

I still say it's too bad the repro armor is just mils steel and not hardened steel. Oh well.

Do post pics when it's uncrated!

Still looking good. Was the original floor made of armour or just mils steel? It looks like mostly angle iron and relatively thin plate - IED's did not exist back then so much...

Where are the idler shaft and tanks at? Outsourced?

One of the complaints of soldiers in ww2, nothing to protect them from mines. It was basically sheet metal.

The tanks are being made, same guy has a mint rear idler shaft and pivot, so will come on same pallet
