All you southern Ontario folks I need some Input. You guys seein any birds yet? I shot 5 on the weekend and 1 honker but it seems they ain't movin around a whole bunch yet, any theories? Think we need some weather to get em movin around?

How about we start our own Ontario storm chasers thread to keep tabs of movements in our areas? Just a idea?

Hasn't been any cold weather or frosts out here on the prairies to get them moving. The birds have been migrating in up here and just hanging tight, warm sunny days and endless food supply= no reason to move!

My brother-in-law and I got 4 early season geese a weekend ago. Not too much flying around, they came to the pond off a soybean field a farm over from us.

Need some more time out in the field...

X2 just east of him. They are all here some fields are covered on my way to work. Heck of a lot more daffys this year to. It's nice to see them coming back didn't see as many a few years ago.

We usually see about 50 ducks within an hour of sun up, then the flight dies right down. The weather hasn't been cold enough to really get em moving.

Shot a colouring up green head , and saw about a flock of 40 mallards flying this morning , they had to be migratory

quite alot of migrators when i was at wasaga beach on the notty

Every evening I go scouting for mule deer and witness seeing hundreds of geese and thousands of ducks. No body out there hunting them, including myself. I'm waiting for the cool/colder temperatures to arrive which is suppose to be starting this tuesday. I could of limited out every day on 8 ducks and some geese, however; I'm getting pretty picky in my old age.

Oh there are people hunting them. I know myself and a couple buddys live for september and october. Even in this warm weather we are out and enjoying every second of it!

Thats for sure......we've been grinding 'em hard every weekend. Limiting on darks has been easy and the ducks have been fairly co-operative also though not nearly so as the geese but there has been a lot more geese around until this past weekend, the ducks are really piling in now. Lots of pintails, gadwalls, widgeons, mallards and redheads around. Saw a few good sized flocks of buffleheads tonight while looking for coyotes.

Loads of ducks out here. Was just out for a couple hours this afternoon & saw CLOUDS of mallards, also wigeon, pintail and a few others. Not as many geese as usual; not sure why. Only got a few.. due mainly to my pathetic shooting.. but there's no shortage of birds!

Opening day for ducks was amazing here in Parry sound Ontario but they have been dissapearing since then. Not one flew by last night. I was about to start a thread asking why but you guys have answered my questions. Guess I'll wait for some cold weather.

Unfortunately, yes. Last year was a golden year here, this year nothing.

Every fall when we head N to the boreal I'm just amazed at the birds from say Settler to Smokey lake. Down here it's really hit and miss depending on spring snows.
Last year we had to laugh, there was a slough N of Viking that was Completely surrounded by big mallards, all in a circle on the waters edge, even looked to be touching. We joked if the slough lost a 1/16" of depth when the circle of birds shrunk, one would have to leave as there wouldn't be room, haha.
Son now has a house E of Edmonton, I'm going to slowly start sending him home with decoys whenever he's home............see where I'm going with this? Wink wink, nudge nudge. :)
