I'm heading out on my first chicken (fine, GROUSE) hunt tomorrow and she's worried about having enough space in our freezer.

I admire her optimism, but I think she's confused me with somebody who knows what he's doing! :)
 
Your wife is way nicer than mine...My wife just asks if the life insurance is up to date cuz I'm retarded and might shoot myself. Not joking...she actually says that.
 
Oh, yeah, the missus looove that. Take my word for it that mother of my two kids and the love of my life is absolutely gorgeous. And she never says boo when a new firearm enters the house, so she's perfect. :)
 
I've seen very few birds this year (5 in total).I work for a local R.M. plus have property 1.5 hours away I go too quite abit and alot of walking the property and driving the backroads and only 3 sharpies and 2 ruffies.The 2 ruffies were on my property.
If you get 1 or 2 consider yourself lucky!!!!

About ten days ago I had the reverse bag: 2 ruffies and three sharptails for three trips. However, the covey of ruffies was six juveniles, the covey of sharptails was I believe eight of them. Anyone spending much time outdoors up here, says they are seeing grouse on a very regular basis.
But as of recent the warm & dry weather really has made for a very quiet forest. Last three trips I've only seen spruce grouse twice.
(they are still alive) And today being the third trip, nothing at all. I think I'm going to wait until temperatures drop a little bit before going out again.

Well, went to the little sweet spot a buddy told me about. I parked the truck, walked 20 feet, flushed a pair.

After I soiled myself, I brought down one of them with my trusty rusty.

Walked about six miles after that. Came back to the truck, flushed another pair about 100 feet from the start.

Soiled myself again. Didn't manage to get a shot off, unless you count the squeak that came out of my larynx a shot.

So, my wife and I were right we're both right. ;)

I got a VW for her .

I thought it was a good trade !
