Hello,
I recently purchased a used Norinco 14.5" barreled CQ-A rifle. I know, it is a cheap Chinese POS, but I got it for a G17 Gen 4 that was doing nothing in my safe.
The problem. This rifle shoots to the right, way right, like about 12" or more. The rear sight must be wound right over to the left to hit paper. Once it is the rifle produces tight groups. I mounted a scope and there is not enough windage adjustment in the scope to hit paper. The gun does have a Spikes Tactical free floating hand guard installed.

My thoughts are that the barrel may be over torqued when the hand guard was installed. Do you have any other ideas? The rifling looks clean.

Thanks

number one reason not to mess with stuff. I personally like the Norc for is reliability. made with looser tolerances it goes bang everytime compared to some ARs ive seen in action.

I would say that you should reinstall your barrel. My Norc Shoots just nicely with dry sights.

That really dont sound like it to me ,barrels slide in ,coller meats with receiver ,nut go's over top and tighten. No real way for the barrel to get torqed from one side to the other IMO

You are local to me.

Im around on the weekend if you want to meet up and I can trouble shoot with what I learned from a previous Norc.

Are you using the stock handle sight or is there an aftermarket sight?

Is the sight name brand or something else?

Does the front sight seem canted off to one side at all? Well i guess you could not zero it with a scope also , ether the flat top rail is out of spec or the barrel is out of alignment with the receiver for some reason? not really sure if a over torqued would cause it?

Over torquing the barrel nut wouldn't cause this. That's just not how AR15 barrels are attached (slide on and tighten nut). There's something else wrong. Interesting that the irons and optics are both out of whack. This means that the upper receiver is seriously messed up, or the barrel is out of alignment.

If you have the tools, I would suggest taking the barrel off and seeing if it's flat at it's base (where the barrel meets the upper receiver), for starters.

Once seen a colt with a slightly bent barrel... It would shoot to point of aim 'until' you heated it up...

Is it possible the gun was damaged?

And, in comparison, our two Norc M4's shoot fine... We bought them new from Marstar, zero complaints 100% reliable so far! Would buy them again in a heartbeat!

Cheers

Thanks for all the responses. The hand guard is free floating and definitely not touching the barrel. The sights are Magpul front and rear. I believe the receiver and barrel are not perfectly square. I will be taking it to gunsmith as I don't have the tools to remove the barrel and even if I did I don't know what to look for.

Does the barrel appear to be centered in the free float tube?

No, actually, the barrel is off to one side by 0.04". I initially thought that this was why the irons sights were performing the way they do. Upon installing a scope on the receiver I found that the rifle is shooting to the right and it is not the optics or the sights that are out of alignment.

maby the prev owner used barrel blocks in a vice to undo the barrel nut and when yanking on the Nut bent the barrel (as I heard some are a real ##### to get off)
