I'm looking on input for the best mount to put a S&B on an HS50.

So far I'm thinking one of the Near Alpha mounts? Any recommendations or criticisms with this route? Will it work well or not?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks guys/gals for any suggestions.

To take advantage of all the vertical MOA in the s+b you are going to want a 30 or even 40 moa base. I would definitely use one on a .50 if you plan on reaching out at all. On a .308 a 20 moa base will do but probably not a .50 if you want to get the most out of it.

I was thinking that as well. I will also be cheating a bit though. It's a 12-50x with FFP and the P4F reticle. So I will have drop down marks that are consistent at all magnifications.

Again I was thinking the NEAR alpha mount. They seem to have the required moa as well.

I have a near alpha mount on my 338 and it is a work of art. Richard (think thats his name) is great to deal with. You won't regret buying anything from NEAR.

+1 for Near, I have a 30mm Alpha Mount and its absolute excellence! I have a 34mm on the way as well. Richard has top notch service also, give him a call and he always has the time to answer any questions you might have. If you get a Near you wont regret it.

I have no affiliation with Near, just a very impressed customer.

You may want to consider replacing the flat factory rail that is too low to get a decent cheek weld on the rifle with, with a thicker rail. We manufacture a plus 30MOA rail specifically to deal with the this well known shortcoming of the HS50 rifles.
As other have said Nears alpha mount is well made but does not deal with the problem of having the scope mounted too low so as eye alignment is way off center of the optic.

I'll take a look at that. Right now I'm still getting this rifle together. Currently it's an impressive art display in my home (trigger locked of course). :D
