I am hoping to buy a Swiss Arms classic green within the next few months. Who stocks it for the best price? I am after the full sized model, with the diopter sights.

Thanks,

- J

EE, gently used specimen, buy from a guy with a strong trader rating. Save hundreds or thousands over retail. Shoot and enjoy.

I am wanting to buy new...I do not trust round counts people give, always seem to be >500. I do not want to buy a gun that has been already fired 3000 times haha.

I would start to worry about round count in a SA at about 50 000 or so... Doubt there are more than 2 in Canada that have that round count. They are a workhouse that won't give a cr*p about a few crates of ammo. Like good wine, they'll only get better.

A barrel will burn out MUCH sooner then 50,000 rounds tho!!!

2.2 Extended service life / Functional safety

- Experience indicates that depending on the grade of ammunition used, the barrel has to be changed after approx. 20000 up to 30000 rounds have been fired.

-15000 rounds for wearing parts of the bolt assembly are quite feasible: other small components will last for anything up to 30000 rounds.

-Major components such as trigger housing, bolt, receiver, plastic parts, the main components of the trigger action may readily be expected to withstand 40000 rounds.

-We have weapons at our plant which have major components still fully functional after firing 80000 up to 100000 rounds.

$4000 new, or $2800-$3000 on the EE, so for me, the EE is a no brainer. Some of these rifles being sold these days have been fired less than a hundred times. I don't understand why people interested in a Swiss Rifle are so worried about a couple thousand rounds? The barrel life on a these things is an absolute minimum 15000 rounds.

(I dunno the round count on this one but c'mon $2850 Shipped is hard to beat for any Swiss Rig, check it out, http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?796837-NR-Swiss-Arms-Black-Special-2850*Pics*&highlight=swiss)

I suppose if you must buy new, I would shop at Wolverine too, they are cheaper than everyone else in Canada, I priced one a while back, I believe after taxes and shipping it came out to $3870 or something around there.

Unless it was very poorly, pissed-poor, never cleaned and then some - I wouldn't worry about a SAN with less than a few ten of thousand rounds!!!

There's really no point of buying new when they come up for sale in the EE every week. Some $200 less than new retail price, some $1,000 less, some even more than that.

Good luck with your search and purchase!

You are sure to find one on EE that someone has gone so far as to break in for you and it will cost only a little more money than you pay for a new one at a store...

Round counts in the manual are for the rifle in infantry use - ie: including full auto fire. Since we don't have that form of happiness in Canada, that number is going to be considerably lower than our little reality will allow

I don't quite follow.....A rifle that has fired 15000 rounds on Semi auto is going to be in WAY better shape than a rifle that fired that same amount of rounds on full auto. Full auto guns get hot, and the heat contributes greatly to wear on the weapon. Are you suggesting the opposite? Like, that a semi auto would wear faster for some reason???

If a full auto barrel will last a minimum of 15000 rounds then a Semi auto barrel should last for many more rounds than that.

What he said.

And don't worry about round counts lol, 3000 rounds is nothing with these rifles. You will not burn out an SA barrel it takes tens of thousands of rounds to do that. My barrel has 3000 plus that I fired and who knows how many before I owned it. It is still dead accurate and in exc condition.

A good deal on EE is around $2700. Beats the hell out of $3400 plus tax.

As this thread strays off course as they all seem to do here... I just bought one new from Reliable Gun. Awesome price & a little biased as this is/has been the only firearms retailer that I will purchase new firearms from. So to answer your question this is the best place to buy a new "classic green" rifle if you ask me!

I got mine from P&D Enterprise for $2999 + GST. in 2010 year end. I am pretty sure u can find one at just about $3000. Anything more than $3200 this day is not a good deal. I have seen someone bought two at the same one for himself one for his friend , list price $3300 sold for $2940, sometimes earlier this year @ Targ?t ?po?t. Just wish to give u a rough on low the price the dealer willing to sell it. All I mention above are Brand New Full Size 20" barrel

How is this straying off course? By members offering experienced/past purchase advise to a member so he could potentially save $1,000?

It's unfortunate that ReliableGun hasn't updated their inventory excel sheet since August 8th as a potential customer would certainly not wait around, but hey, who's looking right...perhaps the OP ;)
