thinking about my first 6.5x55!

Check out the trade exchange here as well as someone else suggested. I got a beautiful one off there a little while ago!

I have only shot S&B 140 gr FMJ through mine and get MOA, but have ordered some 120gr TTSX and will get a buddy to reload. Hopefully shrink the groups too.

The Husky 1600 is based off the mauser 98, but there are some differences. The one I have for sale on the EE [chambered in 6.5x55] is drilled and tapped by the factory and the bolt handle fits a scope nicely. The swedish steel and the Husky design makes these rifles as strong or stronger than anything sold today, and can take any published load that is at the hot end of any reloading manual.

Thanks guys... I checked SFRC and CanAm a few weeks ago and they were sold out.... but i'll look again.

Or I could always get off my butt and drive over to Gagnon's and check out there stock. We will see how motivated I am. haha
 
I just received mine. 280 + taxes + very reasonable shipping. It has an excellent barrel and bore. The stock can use a sand and refinish but it was expected.

As usual Tradex goes above and beyond. I love dealing with these guys.
 
I bought a sportered 1901 M38 5 years ago with the intent for it to be my daughter's first rifle. Since then I have parked my 30-06's and it is my everyday carry rifle. It groups very well with Ferderal Fusion & Winchester SuperX in 140 grain, a #2 bore rating on the disk and a 6X Scopechief that is likely older than I am. So far it has dropped everything I've used it on, including my bull elk the first day of season this year.

Since you're on a tight budget, look for one with the sights intact and drilled/tapped for the future addition of a scope.
 
If it's in the budget you could grab one of the CG63 target rifles they carry. They were built for accuracy and it's still in 6.5x55 (not that swede mausers aren't already accurate). They've also a CG80 for the same price.
