im looking for advice on putting red dot on my m&p 40..I have fiber on it now but the fiber keeps falling out, doesnt matter what type of glue i use..I would like to go red dot battery powered....ive been searching all the sights for awhile now but cant find any for m&p...Theones I've seen on utube had to have them sent away for machining.I would like to have one that fits into the rear sight valley.I really dont want to machine my slide...if you guys have one on your m&p and are happy with it can you show me some pics

I haven't been around that long but I can say that I've never heard or seen a red dot being mounted on a M&P...A laser mounted on the bottom rails yes but never on the top... As for the sights not staying on Id try melting them like "dinsdale" said. Goodluck with the red dot.

Ran a Fastfire on a G34 for a quite a while. In the end it just couldn't stand up to the constant punishment. It lasted around 10K.

Would I do it again...probably not.

I despise fiber optic sights. Yes, they work well, but the replacement cost for a tiny stick of polystyrene shouldn't cost that much. And the mountings are always exceedingly fragile. A Hillbilly method I've used is to stuff some translucent plastic (a piece of trimmer line, one of those girl-drink plastic swords) into the sight and trim it to fit.

Trijicon RMR is what all the "pros" recommend. They are supposed to be able to take a lot more punishment than the Burris Fastfire but you will have to pay for it and I don't know if you can mount it without milling the slide.

seems like rmr for duty/tactical slide mounting and deltapoint for competition slide mounting is the general consensus

order your fibre optic from the states and you can get it for $10 a foot easy. using colored plastic has no where near the same effect and its well worth the $1 to replace every once in a while

Here are a couple of pics, enjoy!

Wow that is awesome! I had never seen that before on a semi auto pistol. Kinda different. Hows the accuracy with that on? Does it withstand the recoil well?

Accuracy didn't change, it's still all you and the tolerances of the pistol. It does make it quite a bit easier for target acquisition, follow up shots seem to be a bit quicker.

It's still holding zero after 500ish rounds.

I have a Burris fast fire and I prefer tf over the delta point for the simple reason I can turn it off.

You don't really need a sight this large on the M&P. I bought both sights at the same time at cabellas in Winnipeg in June. I only bought the delta as it came with mounting hardware for the M&P where as the Burris doesn't.......

Cheers!
