Ok, so I'm super excited because I just got my lower in the mail today for this build. I'm getting closer to finally finishing this bad boy. It's been almost two years of collecting parts and just a few more easy to find things and blam-o, it's off to range!!

Believe it or not, this flare launcher was brand new in the box. Never even mounted.

The gentlemen who sold me the launcher also had some ammo as well. It was all just sitting in his gunroom since the 80's. I think I might have to consult an ammo specialist first to find out if I can still shoot these things. They are the exploding starburst kind, so it will be fun to let a few of these off. Although finding a range that will let me do it might be tricky.

Almost forgot to add, everything so far was bought on the EE!!

I was watching Black Hawk Down this week and admiring those M203 handguards. This is going to be an awesome build when its all said and done.

Don't put pmags in this guy either. Steel USGI only, preferably with some duct tape and dust on em :D

how much did that flare launcher cost?

They're not cheep that's for sure. It is vintage and the problem is finding one, but you can get the new Havoc launchers at Questar. The new ones attach to a rail system.

That is a thing of beauty. When you do blast off that launcher take a video of it for the rest of us nutters.

Oh for sure!! It still might be awhile though. The upper is stripped but it is a colt A2. So I still need a BCG, a barrel and some other odds and sods. I'm going to try and keep it as close to what it was supposed to look like as possible. So no fancy lasers, flash lights or AM/FM cassette players!!

Big time, I would like to try and find some vintage mags so I've been looking at gun shows and military swap meets. No luck yet though.

i was just wondering since one on EE showed for 6000 and thought it was too high but now i'm not so sure

I think that was an actual 40mm M203 Grenade launcher. There are a VERY select few in country, and when attached to a host firearm are non restricted (assuming OAL is over 26").

They used to be non firearms, but the RCMP managed to find a shell that had a velocity over 500 FPS and therefore they were required to be classified as firearms.

I saw the same ad, it was a 40mm. Still, 6,000 is a bit much I think. I was in a gun store a while back and they had a mint one in the counter display for 3,200. Can't remember if it was elwood epps or the gun room though.
