So how many were in the shipment? When did you sign the contract? When did you arrange for shipment? Did you pay for the first shipment and shipping up front or % as a deposit? These prices could have been 4 years old for all we know.

If you're going to give details, give us all the details please. How much was the manufacturer requiring you to sell per unit for?

Common man, these questions are way too detailed for general forum. Take it for it is at face value- we lost a good deal.

Price maintenance is practiced by many manufacturers. Definiton"Agreement under which a manufacturer fixes the minimum price below which a trademarked or brand name article may not be sold to the ultimate consumer or user. These agreements are usually binding not only on the contracting parties, but also on all those who know of the agreement although they did not sign it."
From a marketing perspective there are many reasons to do this, cheif of whch is an image of good quality. You will find that many large manufacturers practice ths pricing strategy.

Having said that I am very impressed with Marstar and John for thier policy to reject price maintenance. I guess that is why I am a repeat customer who shops everywhere but only buys from Marstar.

PLINKER 777;
I want to keep this short and sweet, if you were in the importing business you would know that most of the time goods are paid for BEFORE they leave the exporting country.
Our order went back some time, when we received the pro-forma paperwork we immediately wired the funds, in total.

"These prices could have been 4 years old for all we know."
This is a prime example proving what I often say, you can't win for losing....You asked for iformation, do you really think I am that stupid that I would give you, as you put it, four year old pricing ?? Give me a break

The selling prices were to be high enough to allow the dealers a "suffecient" mark up....

Try and get over it and move on, we have....
John

JWILLMOORE;
Thank you for understanding the situation, I hope we can put this to bed and move on, we have many more interesting itmes for our customers over the next few months....

You know if we stood still and wined about every deal that failed for one reason or another, we would have closed along time ago....
john

+1 John. It might be time to lock this thread since you have made your point and we understand your disappointment on a deal that has gone sour. Let us all move on... and hopefully, Blueline can offer us competitive pricing similar or as close to the Marstar was suppose to offer.

John, I have moved on. However if in future you're contemplating opening a thread like this understand that not everyone takes things at face value and you had better be prepared to answer the tough questions, which you have not done to my satisfaction. You opened the door sir. Now that pointed questions have been put to you, you wish to close that door. Bad form. Understand that just because Marstar is the sole distributor of product XYZ, doesn't mean that it can sit on its laurels and NOT distribute. Merchandise must move to complete the cycle. An exclusive distributor does not have the right to stall/halt the sale of product in a particular market that it monopolizes from the manufacturing party. An attempt do do so will breach most any business contract and the exclusive distributor more often than not will find their exclusivity revoked. This is the most likely of circumstances. John as you won't answer the questions, i am forced to speculate in the confines of logic. If my speculations either in there entirety or in part are not on point, you have my apologies and i again invite you to enlighten me.

jwillmoore; you speak like a lawyer...however all of the lawyers I know understand the facts before sounding off, saves the embarrassment attached to looking like the uninformed masses.

John doesn't have to tell you S**T Plinker.
He started this post to inform his customers of a product that will not be coming.

You come on here acting like a know it all and demanding answers. Playing all innocent with your "you started it....." B.S.

Talk about disruptive behavior. Stop Trolling. This is Johns forum.
He made a Product announcement. It's done. Go Home.

I'm more interested in his 25 million rounds of 762x39 :) Can we fill a pool full and go for a swim;)
Millions of dollars in one order. Cool. Wish I could see pictures of the mountains of ammo you guys have.

.
Now, I have purchased from both companies in the past and will continue to do so...'cause I'm a gunnut, but just because I'm a gunnut doesn't mean I want to know or care about business done behind doors that are normally closed to me.

You probably should have stopped here.

..however all of the lawyers I know understand the facts before sounding off, saves the embarrassment attached to looking like the uninformed masses.

But you didn't, you didn't even follow your own advise. "Uninformed masses" is not how I'd describe you as you sound more intelligent than the average.

Troll might be a more fitting description.

John,

With this attitude and stance you will retain regular customers and find many new customers. Good on ya. Keep the good stuff coming..

John,

Thank you for your honesty and patience, particularly in dealings with Mr. Plinker who is obviously a pompous A$$. This type of goof wouldn't know the truth if it hit him in the head. All this crap while trying to appear magnanimous is laughable.

John please lock it down, there is nothing good coming out of it.

If these smaller companies like GP want to grow, they first need to sell product and establish a reputation. They aren't well known enough to dictate MRSP in NA, even with STI's minimal support. The lack of parts and support for the last few years doesn't help thier case. Marstar's pricing is reasonable for such a small and unknown pistol, and GP's short history in the business. It's a risk with an unknown product, it needs to be priced low enough that people would take a chance on it. If it's a good product, demand will be there and the price will go up.

I won't even pretend to know anything about running a company or import/export but this here is an excellent point.

I am not a lawyer but a marketing executive.
We may not know both sides of the story but I know one thing, Marstar has been a member of our communities for 20+ years while Grand Power hasn’t. I have also done business in China and Eastern Europe and throughout the years I have learnt a thing or two about how they do business. Honesty, professionalism and good business practices are not part of their policy or strategy.
