Copper plating your own cast boolits?

My father in law is a jeweller, probably going to retire in a few years.

Long story short, he has all the chemicals and equipment to plate jewellery that I suspect I'll end up inheriting (or can reasonably convince him to sell to me at a significant discount) and I think I can probably milk him for the know how on how to plate...

I'm just getting into casting now, but this gives me an idea... does anyone have any idea on the practicality of plating your own boolits?

My guess - unless you can do an awful lot at a time way it's far too time consuming and not cost efficient. Also, you would have to have undersized molds made because a standard mold bullet that is electroplated will give you bullets that are several thou over the desired diameter. Plus you would still have to resize the bullets because electroplating does not deposit the copper evenly. And unless you're shooting at velocities exceeding at least 1000 fps (and probably faster) there is little to be gained by plating over simply using a good bullet lube to prevent leading. However, I hate to be a wet blanket so if it interests you give it a shot.
 
AHHHH ok, thanks! I have seen the term before and wondered why it keeps popping up in reloading circles. I was starting to think there was a lot of Norwegian reloaders or something!
